Odd Noise from Air Filter

I have been having a strange howling sound coming from my air filter, a K&N. It only happens when the truck is warmed up or on a really hot day. It comes directly from the filter. Now i searched on the site and found out it could be the IAC. What do you guys think, the IAC, the MAF or the filter itself? I also tried to get the IAC off but it is on there good, any tips.
Thanks guys!

i would bet the IAC is the culprit... no idea how to get it off though... Bryan might know since he had/has the same problem

Ah, the typical Ford Moose Call. A friend of mine has an Explorer that does the same thing despite my rigorous cleaning of the IAC.

Unbolt the IAC and go to town with electrical or brake cleaner (non-filming). Get the inerds nice and clean, move the body of the valve around while cleaning it.

If this doens't help, you probably need to replace it. It's about $60 I think.

I have that same noise but only when the A/C is on. I figured it was just normal from that running.

I used the a/c today for the first time in awhile and it got a lot worse. I just can't seem to get the 2 screws off that hold it to the throttle body. Any ideas. I don't mind if I kill the screws I could pick up more, I just need to get them out.

Cleaning the IAC rarely works the part itself wears out over time...

Yes if it sounds like a pregnant cow crossed with a whale... its the IAC
