offroad Y pipe
well i have a question. For my mustang i bought an offroad x pipe which it deleted the cats. DO they make an offroad y or H pipe for a ranger. So i would have no cats
I don't think they make one but on your Ranger you will not gain any power. As a matter of fact you might lose power. An engine needs back pressure from the cats to help suck out the exhaust from the cylinders. Also you will get a CEL all day.
yea im aware of that. The mustang has O2 sencors that you could replace to do away with that.
Then your going to have to go with a custom setup. Try and look for a shop that does mandrel bends unless you don't mind crush bends.

Catless Y pipe for a 4.0L SOHC ranger....thinkin' about that Y pipe for mine.
http://www.zabteck.com/randomtech.htm http://www.zabteck.com/YPipe.jpg And....single cat rear cat pipe.... http://www.zabteck.com/Highflowcat.jpg Btw.....an H pipe wouldn't really work for a ranger, it ain't a true dual set up, unless all is custom like Beard's. . |
yeah i was looking and realized H pipe wouldnt work, but your awsome thank you for finding me this
WOW. Someone actually makes a y-pipe for the Ranger. Well Sport Trac but same thing. Too bad that would fail a visual smog inspection in CA or I would get one.
they do visual smog inspections in CA?? damn they are really crackin down on ****.. what sucks is MA takes all the emissions laws from CA now, im sure in the next year or 2 they will be doing that here.. damn..

the sport trac y-pipe will not fit the 4.0 Ranger. Someone already tried it.

well why do they not make any of this crap for a ranger. I have seen alot more rangers lifted/exhaust that ive seen any sport tracs
i had this on my list to do- get a small run of each (3.0 and 4.0) off road y-pipes made. They would be in the price range of the random technology y-pipe. The problem is getting a stock y-pipe to send in. I hacked my 4.0 when I did a tranny swap, the 3.0's I can't let sit for a few weeks.
if someone is serious about these, and could send me a stock y-pipe, they would get a free off road y-pipe out of the deal. I would need the stock y-pipe for several weeks. PM me if interested. I should have done this a year ago. |
very very tempting Wayne...very tempting my friend. 2001 4.0L SOHC 4x4.

How about a 4.0L OHV y pipe?
Right now I'm looking at 4.0 SOHC and 3.0 y-pipes. I have what looks like a done deal on the 4.0. His truck is parked until September. If it doesn't work I'll I'll make contact with the others.
Andrew, some of the JBA headers for 4.0 OHV Rangers come with a y-pipe already. |
ohhh man......Wayne.........there's another thing i've gotta buy from you. Maybe there'll be a possible JBA header/catless Y pipe combo deal? lol...can't wait!
eesh folks.. its a good thing I dont have inspections over here.. the only problem is, what if I decide to move elsewhere and they do the visuals? ;)
keep the stock one. my rear cat delete pipe will be bolt on bolt off with the cat loaded one. extra gaskets for that on hand already.
Wayne, may as well add me to the list....
I'd be interested in doing something other than this restriction BS I have going on from the factory I may have to take a trip to Western Auto Recyclers and pull the stock Y pipe off the one I got my window off of... if it's still there. What, spend $20 on an experiment? |
chuck, hopefully they have one. the cats have value to them. i would suspect that the recycling yard removes them from the get go to sell them off for the platinum.
I'm kind of kicking myself. I had a y-pipe (3.0) clog up on me. I set it aside for this purpose (make an offroad y-pipe). i either threw it away or someone stole it. |
