you need 2 coolers full of beer. so when u get stuck if u are by your self, you have something to do to wait for your buddy in a bigger truck to come get you.

plus its easyer to pop a top that try to dig your self out.

also gettting stuck is the most fun part of going out. like how u see on trucks gone wild they purposely go into the biggest holes to see who can come close to getting out

I forgot the beer.

Who cares when your stuck and you have beer?

my good friends parents own a lot of property in eastern ohio, so over the summer we decided to go camping for 2 nights. Me and my friend josh went early in the morning because we wanted to set up out tents and enjoy the day / beer. After setting up and a few beers deep we get this genious idea to go driving in the creek........ long story short we ended up getting stuck pretty bad........ so we walked back to our site grabbed a case and went back while we waited for everyone else to start showing up. Took a good 45 minutes to get my truck out haha. Great times.

and save the drinking and driving bashing to your self. we were on huge private property that was pretty damn far from any roads. trust me there were no intentions to go driving on a public road.

FordNeck99 03-20-2007 02:39 PM

its legal to drink and drive no matter where u are, as long as you dont get cought

^^^ yea, and when u get caught it SUCKS!

but beer+wheeling is badass, it goes together

most 4wheeling places say "no beer on the trail" and the joke is "theres no beer on the trail, so bring your own.."
anyways, yea, i would have to say thats one of the most needed parts

I would say a winch is a must as well as some tow straps.

lol

Yeah that was not one of my shining moments, I should've known better. Open( or cone) Filter + Water = Bad news

Ask anyone there though, I had just about every single tool we needed to create a temporary solution so I could get home! Just had to borrow a shorter extension from Griggs and pick his brain a bit.

Oh yeah, best advice for wheeling in 2wd........enroll yourself into Griggs' Offroading School =]

and....never go alone! I would've been up the creek w/o a paddle(no pun intended) if not for a bunch of helpful, knowledgable folks from the forum that I was with.

ranger 03-23-2007 12:45 PM

yea i am glad i had tools to get the water out of the cylinders when i hydrolocked/ blew up my 92. not a good day for that 3.0 lol she will be back running shortly

jrpro130 03-23-2007 03:29 PM

I'm surprised I havne't hydrolocked mine yet..I seem to find the nastiest, biggest holes...and get stuck every 2 feet.

Hanzo Steel 03-23-2007 04:19 PM

And if you can't afford any recovery gear atleast have good tow points to make it easier to get you hooked up.

FordNeck99 03-23-2007 08:42 PM

and get stuck every 2 feet

i can belive that member the night at croom u could not turn around with out getting stuck

but i aint got no room to talk i get stuck in the hole i tried to dig for u and u just walk through it

you are the man

FMD 03-24-2007 10:23 AM

if u cant affrod a winch, and the setup to support such winch, buy a MADE IN AMERICA come along. theyl doo wonders! we have moved 50ft telephone poles with them before ;)

and to mr 'anti beer'

I dont drink hardly. now, howabout all them yahoos talkin on the cell phone, doing their nails, eating, putting on make up..... i say there are FAR more dangers on the road than a drunk driver....

there is a web site that shows hi-lift recovery techniques just google a little bit . The thing to remember is its not just a jack to lift up your truck (this will work to free you most the time.) It also can winch 5,000 pounds which could be handy . it can clamp 700 pounds which won't free you but could be uselful for something . there is actualy like a bunch of rescue stuff you can do with it such as spread the stearing wheel from the seat in a head on collision to free the driver. just get the tallest one you can . I got a 36 " and sometimes on really rough ground its barely tall enough if the jack has to be in a hole . also you can only winch the length of the jack before having to start over so the longer the better . one day i'll step up to a taller model.

winches are a ton of money so a hi lift and or come along are more reasonable for most casual offroaders . make sure you have heavy blankets to put on the tow cable cuz you have to stand right there with the jack or come along and that means you might get seriously hurt if it breaks .

a hi lift can help in deep mud too . You jack up the truck to break the suction then either drive, winch , or pull it forward . or just use it as a winch .
