Here's a link to the window sticker fuel economy for a 1985 Ranger 2WD diesel (they don't have anything pre-1985 on their website)

29 city/33 highway is pretty nice. 40mpg seems like a bit of an exaggeration though.

lol I'm trying to convince my dad to help me buy it...if i do...its gettin' lifted with some stacks n some high flow injectors and a fuel pump lol it may be a 4 cylinder but i will make it roll coal somehow hahaha
