LOL,,,, I bought ( 2 ) remote starts 4 years ago at walmart for $39.95 each and installed one in my truck and the other in my wifes car, been using them faithfully for 4 years now with NO issues what so ever!!
With out a doubt the best $39.95 I have ever spent on anything!!
Walmart does not carry them anymore but here is what I bought for my ranger and my wife's Taurus.
Bulldog Security. Model RS82 Remote Starter Only

I installed two of their remote starter kits on my GF's Lumina, and on my fathers E150. The luminas control box was bad out of the box, no one would answer my calls or emails, and it took 2 weeks to get someone to call me back to have it replaced. On the E150 it didn't work properly because they had problems with one of their manufacturers messing up the main circuit board. The ended up having a fix that 'jerry rigged' the unit to work. Both units have worked since then but it left a bad enough taste in my mouth never to try their product again.

viper are good alarms...i put one on my old car (95 escort) that nobody would steal to begin with lol but had a shock sensor and thats all you really need...my old car beeped if somebody accidently bumped into it but if they kept doing it it went off full force it was a pretty good alarm for the price

Mine I have the glass break sensor installed on it and I found out the if you accidentally leave the radar detector on it will set off your alarm... and so will GPS falling off your window at 3 in the morning.....
As for the 2 way remotes... Ive had mine for 5 months now and so far the batteries are fine... Viper even sent me 2 extra batteries by mail when i registered the alarm with them... The 2 way is handy if you go into a store and your alarm goes off your fob plays the sounds of your alarm so you know its going off also the confirmation beeps are nice if you forget to lock your car and you lock it from a couple blocks away you know it reached the truck and locked it...
Also for those with an iPhone you can get a little box to hook to your alarm and pay a small yearly fee and you can Lock, unlock, Start, and know when your alarm goes off from anywhere you have cell coverage.

not trying to put you down in any way so please do not take it this way.. seems you havent done anything along these lines before.. alarms/remote start/ keyless entry can be very difficult if you havent done it before... try autoalarmpro.com they give you step by step instructions built for your truck with pics... good for first time install

had my truck broken into stole my nav gps from the windshield,a portable gps in counsel box my back up wireless lcd screen, and my unopenned diet coke can, what they forgot thank god was my 4000 dollar camera bag behind the drivers seat, so i bought a compustar alarm system, from future store, and paid a seperate proffessional to make a house call to install it,he did a great job a few extra procedures that the stores don't do,as in diodes that prevent the system from draining my battery, horn wires wrapped in weather covering hoses,I guess you get what you pay for right.
