Foggy Windows

i have a hard time keeping my windows from fogging up on rainy days.
i put the defroster on, but it only gets the middle of the front windshield clear.

what is the correct way to unfog all the windows?

If you have air conditioning, it should de-fog with no problems at all. If you don't, it isn't as easy because it is just blowing humid air on the window. The mentioned 'supplements' would be a good place to start.

I've noticed if you just warm the winsheild using defroster on warm for a lil bit it will reduce all the fogging...

Im not sure about the 94's. On 95+ the defroster uses the a/c. So yes its warm air.

I will run the normal a/c position with temp selector half way between hot and cold.

just make sure that you clean the windows before you put on the anti-fog.

This may sound weird, but i have heard if you wipe your windows with shaving cream, you windows and mirrors will not fog for like 6 months..(no joke) i have yet to try this are do really any research, so try at your own risk.

Drew

also, i would think you do this to the interior part.

Any ranger equipped with air conditioning will have it come on automatically in the defroster and floor/defroster setting. Most cars are this way actually.

As far as temperature goes, if it is interior fog and not exterior fog or frost, pretty much any temperature combined with air conditioning will take care of it pretty quickly. It is the dry air that does the trick, not the temperature.

If it is exterior fog that keeps coming back even with the wipers, then using warmer defroster air will slowly make it go away. In this case, the air conditioning is pointless because the problem is outside the window. If it is frost, then obviously the full flame-kissed is what you want.

Yes guys this works! I have done it to mine since I have had the ranger. If you clean your windows first, then squirt a hand full of shaving cream and rub it all over the window, take a clean cloth and wipe your windows down really good. If you use more then a hand full then you smear your windows really bad and its hard to get it all off without having alot of smugs and a cloudy residue. A hand full works miracles! And its cheap!

I was wondering about this too.
When my windshield has inside fog I turn on my defrost. Then it gets real heavy and in a few seconds completely disappears. Just try not to be driving when you first turn it on. I've used Rain-X before so I may give it a try with this truck.

That blast of fog is from the moisture sitting in/on the AC condenser that gets blown up before the AC system pressurizes. It is really annoying so I usually start it on the panel vents first to get the dehumidified air flowing.

Reviving this thread. I wondered if this was normal. My 2003 always blows humid air out for the first few seconds then it clears up no matter the weather. I hate it. Since indicative of a heater core going bad on most cars I was begining to wonder. Thing is I don't smell antifreeze and my coolant level is always the same so I know there's no loss.

Typical with this air box design.

Only remedy is to turn off the a/c 5 or so minutes before shut down. To allow the humid air to be blown out.

If its really bad with a smell it may be caused by a blocked drain hole.
