I am new here. I have a '97 Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC, but it may be totaled because of a lady driving while on a cell phone.
Anyhow, I wont get much for it eventhough its in great shape, so I may be looking for a used Ranger. Maybe something around 2000 year model, 4 wheel drive extended cab. For what I can afford it may have some miles on it. So, which is the best v6 for reliabilty and longevity?? The 3.0, 4.0 ohv, 4.0 sohc.
I have 110,000 on my 4.0 sohc and beleive it has a lot left in it. And do either of the 3 engines team up with a better tranny then the other.

4.0 any........the OHV and the SOHC are great engines......dont get a 3.0 whatever you do, you will regret it....

 

the 3.0 is what I have in my truck, with an auto, and even with it being a reg cab short bed, it is seriously lacking in the power and torque department....go with the 4.0 you will be much happier with it

 

4.0 is the only way to go....Wow that rhymed, that wasn't intentional.

 

whats up with your seats? Leather? Id be interested in getting them from you if that is the case
