Im looking to get a new set of tires for my Ranger. Also looking for suggestions. I drive ALOT (around 400 miles a week) so I need something that will hold up. I also want something that will do decent off road, in the mud.

anyone have any idieas?

Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. I have them. They wear really well and are really good offroad. They dont look like an offroad tire though but they come with a 50,000 mile warranty

i am currently on my 2nd set......my 1st set was 33's and my 2nd set is 35's..........my 1st set i had 40,000 miles on them when i took them off and sold them to Bill (04lvl2) and they still had about 10,000-15,000 left in them.......they have a 50,000 mile warranty, but if you take care of them (proper allignment and rotation regulary) they will last well beyond that!

 

i have the goodyear wrangler AT/S, but my in bed spare tire is the silent armor due to the fact the wranger AT/S doesn't exist anymore. when my tires come due for replacement, i'll be getting silent armors.

theres always the General Grabber At2's which are just as good as the bfg's. and are almost 1/2 as expensive i have set. nice tire imo

 

ya know, cruising around the passed few days, i thought the new tires were just 'ok' in the snow, but not fantastic.... anyways, i seen an 05lvl2 today try too get into his driveway around the corner from me, and he was in 4hi, and didnt make it very far at all, like 15ft? maybe? LOL after seeing that, i felt alot better bout the tires everyone told me NOT to get, since when i left to get coffee this am, my driway was not plowed, and has 2inches of ice on it, and my driveway is 150ft long, so, starting from my garage, i backed out, thru a 3ft high snow drift, turned around, and pulled out of my driveway in 2wd and didnt even get stuck. i know the drift in front of the door was almost 3ft high cause i stopped at moms and there was snow on my back bumper, and my truck spent the night in a heated garage. so, THAT means to me, that my 'crappy' generals, are better in the snow than the bfgs. now, if i got LS my truck would be next to unstoppabled

note: guy with 05 lvl2 got a running start too cause i stopped to see how far hed get.... and he has the same 5-8inches we got.

 

if he couldn't get in his driveway, then it was driver error.......when i had the 33" BFG's, we go 2' of snow 1 night.....i contracted my truck out to the local hospital to drive people medicane and to pick up sick people......i went down a road that wasn't even there....alls it look like was a field....if i didn't know were the road was, then i would have been screwed........locked her in 4 high and trecked on.......when they finally plowed the back roads, they did it in 1 lane......i was driving down a road, met a car and just locked her in 4 low and took off through a field and then came back up on the road behind the car....

the BFG's are awsome in snow if you know how to drive.....<<that is the key...

 

it also depends A LOT on ground clearance, not really the tires you have......because most snow gets hung up on your truck and let the tires hang freely without any weight on them...

 

I think Im gona go with either the Goodyear Wranglers that I have now, or a set of Buckshot Mudders. Id get the BFG A/T's, but at this time I dont have the money.

i dont really know about my dueler a/t's.. theyre ok, but not fantastic. if i had it to do over i would get pro comp a/t's. ive read some good articles about them and theyre rated really well in every category

 

hit up tire rack and google for reveiws of the grabber at2's there a nice tire in my opinion and for the money ($90 each) u cant go wrong

 

Stay away from the BFG all terrains if you're going near mud. They are a great tire but they clog up like nothing else in the mud...
My vote goes to the Cooper stt's. Though I've only been running them for a few months, so it's hard to say how long they will last, but they have been a great all around tire so far. Great in rain, snow, ice, decent in mud, maybe I'll run them in the sand this weekend...
Plus the price was right, and they look great.

 

my Kelly Safari Trex are kick *** off-road and aren't expensive at all.

 

i have had my BFG A/T's in mud and they didn't do too bad.......yea if you are going to get into deep mud then no dont get any a/t tire....

 

i vote for the buckshot mudders.. all around good tire.. awsome off-road.. nice hum to em.. not to loud tho.. and they look great....so far i got bout 15k on mine.. with the whole front end outta alignment.. and they are still in decent shape..
