why not just get the STI Driver. Its spectra immune so you dont have to worry about being picked up by spectra 1-3 and since youve already spent the money on a quality detector like the v1 i can understand why you would take such a big leap in the wrong direction.

For all the people saying its a waste because its in a ranger, last i knew my ranger can go 15 over most any speed limit which is easily a ticket. I enjoy the extra 1k-2k i have in my pocket because my detector has saved me.

Some of u guys are way rash. If the guy wants it so be it , **** I would like 1.Alo I dont know about where everyone lives but here everyone and i mean everyone is doing 80 and if u arent u become a hazard to the ppl who have to be to stay in the flow of traffic. I am not saying speeding is cool its just in some places u are better off staying with the flow of traffic.

Yeah.. up on I-5 here, I have been keeping up with traffic and I'm forced to do 90 sometimes.. just isnt fun sometimes, because its so dang near my speedo limit.. need my Xcal-2 here in a bit methinks =) Then I'll take it to the track and see jsut what I can do, haha maybe bring my stock tires with me, see jsut how much of a change they bring to the accel/max speed I can hit

Slow down and get there alive. Im sick of hearing about car crashes where some innocent person dies because some dumb *** was speeding and driving recklessly
Moronic statement of the day.

The guy buys a radar detector and all of a sudden he's turned into a Ranger-driving speed demon. Maybe in his town cops give tickets for only 5mph over the speed limit, it happens in my in-laws' town all the time. Having a radar detector is good insurance, it doesn't automatically make you an a**hole driver. Spare the lecture for when the guy actually says something where he's in the wrong.

moronic rebutal of the day.

You shouldnt be speeding at all. Unless you are going with the flow of traffic. Even if it is 5 over you shouldnt be doing it. slow down theres no reason for it and it wont really get there any quicker.

How about this. I like the SWS feature where it alert you if an equipped emergency vehicle is coming it will tell me. Just playing along here, lol. Mine was a gift because I drive so much along the interstate. I got the Beltronics RX 65 Pro, not enough money for an STI Driver, nor really the need if you live out of VA or DC and are not a truck driver.

I hate to say this, but Virginia and D.C. are the only two (2) places in the U.S. where radar detectors are ILLEGAL TO HAVE AND USE. all the other states allow them yours doesn't .

have fun when you get caught and have to face a $3,500 fine (yes, thats the fine for excessive speeding in Virginia) and another $500+ for having a radar detector.

Everyone needs to chill out he is getting it for when he goes back and fourth to school no worries its nice to have he understands what he got and is happy with his purchase. Why is everyone getting on his a** about it.

If someone is happy with what they got voice your disagreement in a manor that will not be d*ck to say.

And with all this **** about how he is a bad driver what the h*ll where is this **** coming from?

Glad to hear your stoked about what you got man I hope in the long run it pays for itself.

I have mine mostly just for fun. I dont speed too much at all. I usually go 5 over the limit, once in a while more than that. I see my detector as a tool more than anything else. Even if im only going 5 over, its kind of cool to see where the cops are hiding. My escort 8500 has "saved" me a couple times maybe, I was only going about 8 over. Its a cool gadget to have nonetheless.

Nope I just have it pretty much for fun. I go a little more over on the highway because its usually easier to pick up radar there, not always though.

I hope you dont think I was being a duechbag.

I dont see a problem with having one. Everyone speeds. I dont see a problem doing 5-7 miles over as long as your not cutting cars off and weaving in and out of traffic. running people over

Just here in my town they dontjust sit with the radar gun on. I see them all the time wait till they see you then point it at you and its way to late then.

Thats how they do it here, but when the radar goes off then you can slow down real fast. The cop will still get you but he will get you at a slower speed because you were slowing down. I was going 35mph and my radar went off, I slew down fast and he only got me going 20mph.

What radar detector has a 12 mile range? Does it give you more than just 3 or 4 bars/lights to determine the power of the signal? I could see myself getting annoyed at my radar detector beeping for 12 miles.
