my 93 4.0 xlt ex cab had
-the explorer dome light with map lights
-3rd brake light lit up white (end caps) when interior lighting turned on to illuminate the bed
-power seats (already mentioned)
-underhood lighting (already mentioned)
-locking glove box (already mentioned)
-ex cab cargo cover and mesh net (already mentioned)
-glove box lighting
-manual mileage and tripometer down to 1/10th mile
-ash tray & cig lighter (I don't smoke)
-3 piece manual split rear window
-tricolored taillights
-seat pockets built into rear of OEM seats
-i think that's it

what my 04 Level II lacks from above:
-no explorer dome light (I installed an OEM black one from a 90-93 mustang)
-no 3rd brake light for illuminating bed (there's a 3rd brake light, but no white end cap lights)
-no power seats
-no underhood lighting
-no ex cab cargo cover or mesh netting
-no glove box light
-digital mileage accurate to the 1 mile, tripometer still accurate to 0.1 mile
-no ash tray or cig lighter (could careless, non-smoker)
-tricolored taillights (I miss having orange turn signal on my taillights. I don't find flashing red turn signals as noticeable as an orange flashing light against red tails)
-no pockets built into rear of seat (great for storing various atlas)

What I've seen driving around:
-ex cab side windows that pop open for ventilation (I'd LOVE to have those since I don't use AC much even though I'm in the desert)

I think that covers it for me on what I know/knew.

I dunno, at the rate their taking stuff off the ranger, by 2020 the ranger will be reduced to a plastic straw type steering wheel, a lawn chair, and a lawnmower engine, compleye with bicycle tires, and itll only cost $40,000!

Well, Ford as a whole has lost one thing over EVERY model line...

Common ****ing sense.

I think you may be right.I think it might just be on the standard cab and it might be in 1998 that they did that.I think they added 1" or 3" to the cab,I can't remember which, but I do remember reading this somewhere. They did a slight overhaul in 98,mainly to the front suspension.1998-2000 are mostly the same.

x2....just look at the new F-150. That thing is entirely too huge to be an off-road toy. The new design is what, 3000 lbs heavier? It's wider and longer. You might as well slap some 20s or 22s on it, some no-get-you-home-chrome, a leveling kit, and leave it on the street. There's these pre-lifted (fabtech) F-150s I see for sale out at the dealership here called crushers and I just laugh at em. It seems everything is for street and bling these days. I'm getting really annoyed at it. I can't explain why on a personal note. Maybe because it just doesn't seem practical? Sorry to those within the ranger community going this very direction. It's only a personal opinion.

Reuber: do you have the 2 door ext cab? that might be the difference, since on the 4 dr the rear seats are attached to the back wall.

i do like on the 2 dr ext cab models that the seats were in the ext cab wall and the floor jack was behind that.

When I was selling Fords I asked about that. Ford only does a few "odd" colors like that once in a while because of resale. All your "odd" colors have a lower resale value. The Yellow, Brite Green, Plum Purple, and Orange are said to be "seasonal" colors. Not everyone like these colors and that drives the resale price down. The colors like red, blue, black white silver etc. are always the best for resale value. That is why Ford does not but too many out there.

Well, who doesn't like orange? LOL I like having something that stands out (in a good way of course).....not being just another truck on the road.

Where is your jack stored at? My 93 had the cargo net, but my jack was stored inside the ext can side behind one of my suicide seats. My 04 has the jack between the suicide seats in the center of the ext cab, right where the cargo net was in my 93.

I got the net, its full of all kinds of crap. my jack WAS in the passenger side cubby hole. I tried to get it out and couldnt - imagine if i broke down, my 'big boned' body trying to squeeze behind the seat and wrestle thise mickey mouse jack out of its hole? HA! whaty a joke that would be. so i had one of the neighborhood kids wiggle it out of the hole. a big screw driver and alot of elbow grease pried that jack out of the cubby hole. I mean seriously, wtf in their right mind, puts a jack on the side, and then builds the interior around it? anyways, that jack is in the 'bottle jack' cabinet int the shop and now i have my trusty ol 3ton floor jack in my home made under the rail tool box.
