PLEASE HELP 98 RANGER OUTER CV BOOT

Hi to all. In process of changing outer cv boot on driver side. I have the spindle and shaft all ready seperated. How do I remove the cv joint off of the driveshaft in order to put new boot on. Thanks in advance.

remove the cv off the axle? use a small pry bar inbetween the axle and the cv or tap it with a punch and a hammer (better choice) its just a spring clip holding it in DO NOT PULL ON IT youll separate the rose buds

Your saying that the play in it right now is held on by an internal "hidden" spring clip. I hit on it pretty hard.

I just use a little pry bar and apply pressure and pull, all she wrote

I might be wrong but the only outer cv boot I changed I had to remove the inner cv boot & joint and slide the outer boot on then reinstall the inner cv.

Why not just replace the cv shaft?

Some people would rather keep the good OEM CVs than swap in some junk re-manufactured pieces. I haven't had the best of luck with re-manufactured CV shafts myself.
When a tire shop tore the CV boot on my F150, I made them take the time replace the boot instead of swapping in cheapo stuff.

How about buying a new one from the stealership then?
