$8000 for a 21 year old repainted truck?
That's half way to the cost of a brand new truck. Diesel or not, it's not worth anywhere near that. It's got some basic maintenance done and fresh paint, with who knows what type of body work underneath and he refers to it as 'restored'. It's a 124,000 mile truck that looks to be in good shape, not restored. All of that and he didn't even bother to make sure the radio works for that kind of price.
He probably thinks he can get all his money out of it after realizing he was well on his way to the price of a new truck.
I'd love to have a diesel but I turned down one with 100K on it last spring when the guy wouldn't come below $1500, and that was all original and still clean.
Inflation or not, that truck probably only sold for about $7800 brand new back then. I bought a brand new F150 XLT in 1987 for $12k with all the trimmings. That looks like it's got ony air, 4x4 and the diesel.
Imagine buying something like that and later finding out that the trans is bad or that it needs valve work, which was pretty common with those motors.
You could end up having $10 in it anyhow, or even more. Then add some nicer wheels, a sound system and some serious detailing and the bill gets higher. Those pics of the underside look like fresh rattle can undercoating most likely hiding all the dirt and rust. With that mileage, I can imagine it needing new ball joints, springs and a slew of other wear and age related items.
It also seems the seller don't care to post any replies to any questions either.
