I believe they are supposed to serve a purpose of absorbing an impact/pushing a vehicle. I believe they are sort've "spring loaded", so they flex and go back to shape, instead of just bending, etc. I could be mistaken though.

Thats crazy though. I'd rock a Ranger as a cop, though it wouldnt be as fast as a Crown Vic or Impala most likely, let alone the other types of PD cars I've seen pictures of.

Theres no way your truck sits 3-4 inches higher than a regular 4x4 an inch if that..

haha they have cops in rangers and some on dirtbikes that patrol the area where everyone likes to wheel... it sux cuz its illegal here now. the funny thing is, they're all 2wd so if i really wanted all i gotta do is switch over to 4x4 and go where they cant follow!

We have a sort of 'undercover' ranger in the Sheriff's Office here. My dad did all of the lighting work and such. At the flip of a switch the toolbox opens and all of the LED strobes mounted inside turn on. They are also hidden in the grill and what not.

Please look at top pic. Two trucks left.. cops.. third truck right.. mine.. they were on smaller tires.. and had no t-cranks.. so my 31's and t-crank easily make me 3 - 4 inches.. look at the picture you can even tell.

I'd say one or two inches, but that's it. Those aren't even cops there just code enforcement weenies.

Down where I used to live in FL the SO had lifted Rams on 35's with their stripes and decals, had 4wheelers(which I've been stopped by), and my favorite a F250 or 350 on like 42's win no stripes, but a custom front bumper with a winch and had cestom wheels and LEDs all over it that you couldn't see till they were turned on. It was totally awesome.

I think I would be more pissed off that my local SO was spending my tax dollars on such things.

The rams that had the 35's and appeared to be lifted were probably the "Power Wagon" version that came stock with 35's and a little lift. I do realize that SO's and other law enforcement agencies need these type vehicles, BUT more than two of this type and one with 42's is a little much IMO.

Palm Beach County. We also had a lot of hurricans so they could get to people when water was real high, we had a lot of swamp too.

It was the model before that, like a '01 Ram and they may have been a bit gigger than 35's it's been 2.5 years since I have seen one. I know the 250 was about 42's though.

They actually had a need for them where I was, because of the flooding after hurricanes and the amount of swamps and mud holes that were down there. They were not just bought for toys.

thats crazy. I think its bull**** that police departments buy foreign vehicles. AustinPD has hundreds of BMW motorcycles. If ifs tax money it should be spend in america and not shipped overseas

A lot of times those cars are cars they have seized that they turned into police vehicles. They do that around here at least. In the next town over they have a Mustang Cobra that used to be a drug car that they put lights on and pull people over in it lol

the natural resources police here, use f150s and the new chevy 1500s. i hope i get one. (im almost done my recruitment process...10 months later)
in VA, the inland game police there go through offroad driving school and learn to rock crawl in quanico at the marine base. they are give tahoes. i was talking to one of the guys and he was telling me about the driving school and how once they go through the course, they have to do it in reverse. pretty cool stuff. MD and Va also have a switch on the floor, which kills all the lighting inside and out. they use nightvision goggles to sneak up on people then hit the floor switch and fire up the lighting, he showed me that too, haha. its some cool ****. both are federally sworn in so they can pretty much do what they want. cake job too.
