Power drop and air noises when accelerating from stopped

I’ve been having some issues for a while and the mechanic can’t figure out what is happening as it doesn’t show up with a fault. I’ve had the turbo, transmission, alternator and intercooler all replaced in the last 18 months. Since the turbo was replaced, when accelerating and getting up to changing from first to second, there is a slight power loss and air noises like a sudden release and swooshing. Happens more frequently after a long drive and sometimes when cruising at 60km/h. Anyone know why is happening!?

Welcome to the forum

Year of Ranger and engine in Ranger would help, there were no factory turbo Rangers in North America until 2019

If you "hear" air then air flow has turbulence, or there is a leak

Waste gate opens when a turbo reaches pre-set maximum boost, this diverts exhaust away from and around the turbo, and if it has a leak that could sound like leaking "air" and there would be a loss of boost if it was opening to early, so combo loss of power and "air" noise

hi mate, just came across this as I’ve been having the same problem. No mechanic has been able to identify this issue including Ford. Did you resolve the problem and what was it in the end? Thanks

Hello, I have changed the turbo and it did not improve, do you block your EGR valve or modified your truck ECU?
