Pressure relief Valve

I am putting a 2005 4.0 back on the road that was previously used as AAA assistance vehicle the passenger side fuel rail at firewall has a hose connected to it allowing for the transfer of fuel. My question is this should this be a pressure relief valve with a cap? I think the original thread into rail and part for cap is what the transfer hose is attached to. Am I correct in believing there should be a valve (like in a valve stem) and the cap or is it just the cap?IMG_2449.HEIC

the hose clamp on hose is feed for the fuel transfer off back of fuel rail passenger side

Welcome to the forum

Rangers did have fuel pressure test ports, which were schrader valves(tire air valves), with a cap, there was no "transfer" valve, wouldn't think AAA would modify that vs carrying a can of gas, wouldn't be very safe
Yes, it would have a valve inside just like a tires air valve that could be removed, but shouldn't be, the cap is not enough to seal the up to 65psi pressure in the rail

At the rear of passenger side fuel rail is the damper, it has a vacuum hose attached
The damper is just a rubber diaphragm that stops pressure waves from being reflected back into the rail, vacuum hose is a safety precaution in case diaphragm leaks
Each time a fuel injector opens and closes a pressure wave is generated, if the waves are allowed combine/propagate then fuel pressure at each injector can vary too much which causes problems for computer and its calculated open time for each injector

Just as a heads up, the 2005 Rangers don't have PATS(passive anti-theft system), which is good in that you don't need transponder keys and its one less thing that can cause a no start, lol

thank you I got it running ordered a Fuel Rail Pressure Relief Valve and will install that in its place. any idea what this is and whether it should be plugged or have a vacuum line from? to it https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.ran...ec465432c.jpeg

If thats got the 4 heater hoses on it, its the MAX AC heater shut off valve
Should have a Grey vacuum line on it, the grey line comes out of the firewall on passenger side, hard plastic vacuum line(looks like a wire), it comes from the climate control in the dash
If will have vacuum only when MAX AC is selected, then valve closes and heater core has no hot coolant circulating in the cab for "maximum cooling"
You would probably not even notice it not working

There is no "pressure relief valve" on the engine
There is a fuel pressure regulator inside the gas tank
The engines fuel rail has a pressure damper, no fuel should come out of that device, ever
And it can have a fuel pressure test port, not all do
