The 2007 ordering guide lists 3.73 as standard on most 4.0L 4x4s with 4.10 optional. The two FX4 models have 4.10 standard.

The 2WD 4.0L's are 3.55 open with the only option being a 3.55 limited slip.

I was bulding a 2wd, I have no use as of now for a 4x4 or lift of any kind on my main vehicle, but I still want 4.10's

that's lame to not let me have that option, stupid gas prices!

The rear axle ratio is usually matched to the factory tire diameter. So, a 3.55 with 4x2 tires has a similar ratio of RPM to MPH as a 4x4 with taller tires and a higher numerical ratio.

Makes sense, because most consumers won't go as far modding as adding their own floor matts...

but it's frustrating because that would be one more thing that I'd have to drop money on and have down time, so I could get a truck that would haul some ****

i got an 07 xlt 2wd 4.0 with the 3.55 open diff.. it will get up and go for what it is... now once i put a lift and 33s on it the 3.55 wont cut it but being stock, its quite alright.

ya, you should be able to pick any combo.

some of the things they are doing is stupid...like the independent rear susp. on the new sport trac's and all the explorers. they better keep a solid rear axle on the ranger or ill be pissed.

the new superdutys are awesome tho, i love thoes.
same with the new 08 escapes. the new body styles are lookin awesome on thoes. i was workin on one the other day, there cool. dash is all blue lights now. no green.

I wish they'd offer an extra cab, long bed, in a 4x2 with a stick, but no such luck, they also limit the 4x2 to a 3.73 gear unless you go to a 4.0L Auto. I can only use a long bed, so I guess I'm stuck with a regular cab. Try adding a trailer hitch to a 4 cyl. as well, it makes you upgrade to a 3.0L or larger.
My perfect combo would be an XL Super cab, long bed, 3.0L, 5 spd, full payload and trailer tow packages with air conditioning, an am/fm cd/cassette player, and a bedliner.
I was also noticing that they only offer a manual trans with the 2.3L and 3.0L now.

i have a 2wd 4.0l and i built mine online and they wouldn't give me a 4:10 they said 3:73 is the biggest they put in a 2wd

they have all kind of wierd things that they will give you if you have this and things they wont cause you have that.
