Help with tires

Hey guys, I drive an 01 ranger xlt 5 speed. It has the standard wheels on it (245/75/16) and im looking at buying some 31x10.5x15 with about a 5 1/2 offset. I cant find a straight answer of what my offset is so I was wondering if you guys would know if it would fit or not without looking stupid. I've looked everywhere and havent found a secure answer yet. Thanks, I appreciate it.

offset is from the outside lip of the wheel to the mounting surface
backspacing is from the inside lip of the wheel to the mounting surface

no problem. offset is typically in metric and backspacing is in standard dimensions.

Just to clarify - Offset is actually the distance from the wheel centerline to the mounting surface.

That said, the 'more critical' and standard measurement on our trucks is indeed backspacing.
