since i have bout my truck i always thought that both of the rears spun but never really checked. it has always kicked out sideways and when ever i turn eather left or right the outside tire starts to spin or like kick a little. is this normal i nidnt know if it has a locker or anything.

i had my friend watch me do a break stand and it spun both tires and kicked out sideways. left 2 nice marks to :)

does my year have a stock locker type thing in it? or did i screw something up inside?

im pretty sure our trucks have posi, in which, there are clutches in the diff, which grab when your going straight like that, they allow the tires to spin at a differnt speed around corners to make it smooth, but when your stuck off road, it only gives the tire with no traction power (this never seemed right to me)

like all my friends trucks when they do a break stand they do a 1 wheel peel but mine can rip both tires and swind sideways a lil and around corners especialy in the rain i g2g slow. but its fun to scare the gf

since i have bought truck so like almost a year. was previously owned buy an older guy but he kept very good maintnece of it at a ford dealer and i got all papers for it to.

 

I know for a fact that my Cobra has posi, and when the clutches in the diff are warn out, you will do one wheel peels, maybe all your friends have worn out diffs?

Its NORMAL to lay down 2 nice black strips of rubber

 

its called limited slip. you have it.

not all rangers have it.

 

you have 3 basic units

an open diff (one wheel peel)
limited slip (clutch type design)
Locker

there are other options but most factory vehicles come iwth an open diff or limited slip

 

Yea limited slip is great. I don't have one in my 97 4x2 and the 4x4 has one. Big difference, especially in the snow. I don't need to put it in 4x4 unless its really silly deep. They don't plow roads in my neck of the woods

 

You probably have a factory limited slip.

Check the axle code on the door jam label or the tag on the rear diff and compare it to this chart

actually for on-road use in snow/ice i find it harder to keep traction and keep the truck moving forward. it like to fish and dog track. could just be too much skinny pedal too

 

lol could be. thanks for all the quick info now i have another thing to tell my friends that my ranger is better then a Dakota. the list keeps adding.

i found the axel code and it said R7 so it does match up with limited slip 8.8 4.10L
