Question about wheel size...
Hello, total truck and Ranger newbie here. I'm looking for some help figuring out which size wheels I need.
I bought a 2006 Ranger that came with 4 new backcountry all terrain tires from les schwab. The tires are size 23570R16 https://www.lesschwab.com/back-country-all-terrain-5955478.html While the tires are nice and new, the wheels are mis-matched and one of them is the spare rim. I'm looking to buy 4 new wheels that will fit my truck and those tires. Can I use a 15 inch rim? What is the ideal wheel width for those tires? Are the width requirements different if I'm using a 15 inch rim vs a 16 inch rim? I've tried googling and searching this forum but am having trouble finding info for my situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
The 16 in the 235/70R16 is the rim size, those tires will only fit 16" rims
The proper width for those tires is 6" to 8" rims. |
Welcome to the forum
Yes, 235 70R16 16 means 16" wheels/rims only for those tires Take a picture of one of your 3 matching wheels and then hit the wrecking yard to find a match Or find a set of 4 16" wheels you like better 1998 to 2007 Rangers used these 16" wheels: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...anger_rim3.JPG 2002 to 2007 used these 16" wheels: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...anger_rim1.JPG Only used in 1998/99, 16": https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...anger_rim5.JPG Most Rangers used 14" or 15" wheels |
Thank you both for the info, it's much appreciated
