Question on gauge clusters.

I am new to this forum but heard good things, so my question is can I take a gauge cluster out of like an '00 to '03 and transplant it into say a '10 (rangers of course) :)

Welcome to the forum

NO

The 2004-2011 Rangers use an HEC(hydrid electronic cluster), it has a microprocessor inside that is "married" to the engine computer, they need to "handshake" with key ON

HEC also has the PATS(passive anti-theft system) built in, so it tests the transponder key then sends the "OK to Start" to engine computer, or Flashes Theft light and a No Start

A Ford Dealer can't even change an HEC if it fails, they have to contact Ford and give them the VIN and the Engine Computer's Odometer reading
Then Ford programs the new HEC(with odometer miles and VIN) and sends it to the dealer, the new HEC is install and then it and the engine computer are connected to Fords security mainframe computer and are "married" same as if new at the Factory

A real pain and not cheap

So no, you can't swap clusters in any 2004 - 2011 Ranger at all

Ford got tired of people swapping in lower mile clusters on ALL their earlier vehicles, lol, so this is what they came up with
