Peg That Aligns Headlight Wont Stay On?

You know how the headlights have 3 pegs that go in the holes so you can adjust the headlights and everything? Well when I did the headlight mod a while back I popped one off while they were still hot. Long story short every time I put my headlight on the passenger side in the bottom one on the side with 2 pops off and my headlight aims up higher than the drivers side one.

Is there anything I can do? I was thinking about heating it up and putting a tie strap around it till it cools then snapping it back on. Anyone else have any other ideas? Can I just buy a new peg thingy and snap it on?

Is it a press in stud or screw in? Id use some JB weld and jab it back in there.

It snaps over a ball like thing so it can rotate. You know when your removing your headlights how you pull those two things on the back up and pull the headlight out? Its the things that stick in the hole's. They hold the headlights in and allow you to adjust them. I dont know how to explain what they are I am trying to find a picture.

The things that hold the headlights in see how there is three of them. But the back of mine does not look like those I have the stock headlamps

Which one is giving you problems? The bottom outermost? And what part is coming off? the whole peg or just the clamp?

Its just the part that clamps over the ball thats permanently attached to the headlight. The part with the long threaded metal peice that adjust how far the headlight sticks in and out. The part that moves around in a circle. If you understand what I am saying.

Ok, I know what you are talking about. (I was just adjusting mine today). When you heated the headlight up did the ball disform? or just shrink/expand?

So the whole threaded rod is coming out of the headlight or the plastic piece that is on the metal rod coming off the rod?

From what he has said, the socket with the threaded rod keeps popping off the ball joint.

No the ball did not deform when it was still real hot from the oven I accidentally popped it off and i guess the clip part that goes over the ball just opened up alittle more. So I was thinking about heating it back up and putting a zip tie around it to make the clip smaller so it will snap back on instead of going on for a second then popping off.

Sorry if I am confusing I will take a picture of it tomorrow.

I think I would try re-heating it first. If that doesn't work, you might have to get a new adjuster piece.

I just adjusted mine the other night against the garage door. I was wondering why hi-beams sucked since I put in the black headlamps.........

@25 ft back from the wall I raised the lo-beam about 8-10"......talk about a world of difference.

I had originally aligned the new headlamps where the stockers were aimed at, but guess something was off.....a lot!!

Sorry for the hijack!! Just was excited to have properly aimed headlights again.....

Roach, hope you can fix that up.

and Rev, no, it's not that one he's talking about. It's the lower ones.
