Quick BL questions

Ok... I want to do a BL in the future, but I don't have much in terms of available funds kicked towards the truck for cosmetic stuff (mainly 'cause most of those funds will be geared towards the bike. lol).

If I get a BL... that's $150-ish. If that's ALL I get:
  • rear hitch will "be off"
  • Nerf bars will "be off", but I think it'd look better with those bars farther away from the body
  • bumpers are ok according to 99offroadrngr 'cause the kit comes with new brakets
  • tow hooks in front need to be removed or the valence cut
  • dual outlet muffler system will be farther away from the body

Are these correct? Are there easy and CHEAP fixes for all these? I prefer not to cut the valence in front bu keep the tow hooks (is that possible?).

Thankz

There are fairly cheap fixes if you have access to a welder and torch and know how to use them. Short of cutting the valance your only option is to fabricate some brackets if you want to keep the tow hooks.

your "nerf" bars mount to the cab so they wont change in height.
buy trepaul86's beefed up front bumper brackets. i just got a set and they look so much better in quality. i need to install them soon. my bumper is sagging a bit

Maybe I'll just remove the hooks and install some lights in there like the bigger Ford trucks.

When I say "cheap", I'm really talking about FREE. lol. I don't have access or the know-how to use a welder and torch (unless I want an extra-crispy Ranger. lmao)

Damn. That was the one 'side affect" of a BL that I WANTED. lol. I don't think the nerf bars being that close to the body look good.

If the step bars mount to the body they won't move any lower with a BL.

Yeah... I originally thought they were mounted to the frame. :(

You can leave the hitch on even if it's hanging down.

Just leave everything like it is and if anyone says anything just run them over. Lifted FTW!

lol. I'd need monster truck tires for that. lol

Winning! lol

Yea I'm looking to see if there is any way to raise the tow hooks so i don't have to cut the valance also. Someone I'm sure has done it on here. Also you can cut the rear hitch and re-weld it to raise it up. If you know anyone that can weld that's a free mod.

ps. sorry for this post just realized this thread is super old....
