Soft Tonneau

I found a soft tonneau for the ranger off craigslist for 50$. All the pieces are there but I'm just wondering if its worth it. I don't want it on all the time (i don't think i do haha) but it'd be nice when I go up north to keep snow off of my stuff.

The main thing I'm worried about is it wearing out since I live in AZ and it gets real hot.

But 50$ is pretty cheap...

theres also a mildly used truxedo for 150$

I say go for it. You can always roll it up and store it if you don't use it. I wish I could find a stepside tonneau for that cheap.

Does it roll-up? I wouldn't get one that has snaps on it, even if it was free.

I have snaps. It was a very fail decision on my part. Never again, but hey, it was a freebee from the dealer when I bought the truck.

Honestly, when the snow falls, I do not, ever, ever, undo my tonneau. The cold weather makes it impossible to stretch it enough to do the snaps up again. If it has to come off, I need to find a heated garage to get the darn thing back on in the winter.

I love my soft roll-up, so nice being able to have the bed covered but then being able to just roll it up and have full use.

this is so true. when i get the chance i'm gonna get it to seat better. we have rent-a-service-bays here and i'm debating about getting a hairdryer and renting one for an hour.

that is true, i got mine for a good used price (yours would be better but i'm still happy with mine) and it was rolled up good and small. i wanted this option since i rent an apartment and have very little room to store stuff and do't want my things growing legs in the lockers in the basement.

I have the snap one and made the bad decision to agree to helping out my manager transport a bed.

Now I can not get the back row to snap on!

Im going for a extang full tilt cover next time.

I have had snap tonneau's on my last two Ranger's. Here's a tip for you guys if you need to warm up the cover to get the tailgate snapped. Simply light a can of Sterno, place it in the bed and close the tailgate a few minutes. Problem solved. As far as a conditioner,I've always just used a good quality liquid tire shine. I occasionally (during warm weather) spray WD40 on a rag and wipe down the snaps themselves. This gives them "easy release" and prevents snaps from being torn from the cover.

Sterno is a canned fuel that is used alot of times by caterers to keep food hot on a buffet line. Some people call it "Canned Heat." It's also used by hikers and campers to heat small quantities of food. You can usually find it at Walmart or wherever camping supplies are sold.
