Radiator flush

After the problem other week with coolant hose T, I’ve decided need to flush radiator. Kinda rusty colored not greenish. So did some reading.
Sounds like I need to buy radiator flush from parts store. Few gallons distilled water, and new antifreeze.
switch heater core hoses
Flush out couple times
add new diluted anti freeze.
any other tips/suggestions?
TIA

You don't need to use distilled water with flush chemicals, the point of using distilled water is just for the coolant, so its PH stays above 9, tap water in most areas has a lower PH so will lower coolant PH when mixed

But for flushing no need to waste money on distilled water

Found this while overthinking the radiator flush. Looks like a good plan to me. Little more detailed for someone like me. Only question I have;
he didn’t reverse heater core hoses. Is rhis a necessary step? If so, when should I switch? At the beginning or when add flush chemicals?
thanks for all help.

Reverse hoses at firewall before flushing

Not a big deal though, if there was an debris in the core it would be pushed out by the reverse flow and then drained out when you switch to 50/50 mix

You should reverse heater core hoses every 2 years or so, you don't lose much coolant because they are a high point in the system
