I don't even know what peice you are talking about, my radiator has no "guard" or anything on the bottom of it. So it's not important.

it keeps debris (ie. rocks, and road debris) from coming up and hitting the radiator/condensor and it also prevents things from getting in between them also

if your truck came factory with a skid plate, it took the spot of the plastic crap

being that all trucks do not come with that piece, I wouldn't consider it a must. I know that my truck has nothing that resembles that part at all.

I broke mine off at Paragon on my 01 EDGE. You can live without it, when I put my Safari Bar on, I couldn't put one back on even if I wanted to...

The part you are talking about is a piece of crap, but it does protect the low hanging transmission lines that go to the cooler infront of your radiator. If you plan on going offroad, these lines must be protected via skid plate or rerouted out of the way. The reason most guys don't know what you are talking about is because they ripped it off wheeling before the ever knew they had it.

I actually made a replacement one out of metal and reinforced it with some cheap angle iron and gauge metal welded to the frame. It looked good until I put the body lift on. No it hangs way down and I'm gonna have to we bend the mounting tabs and drill new holes. I'll take pictures later to give you guys a better idea what I'm talking about.

I took mine off to mount a fan. It looks like something I need to reinstall until I can get something better.

I'd just grab a front skid plate.. 10x more useful than that plastic crap.
I ripped mine off too..(offroading)
