Whats cheaper?
Ok ill start out saying this could have fit in a couple different categories so i chose this one.
I was talking w/ a buddy and had a couple of questions on what would be cheaper.
First off, ranger lifts are expensive, so my thinking was it would be cheaper to just do an SAS compared to buying a suspension lift for a 4x4. Can anyone dispute this?
And second, I couldn’t find one for some reason, but I was thinking it would also be cheaper to do a 302 swap instead of buy a super charger for a 4.0. Also what would produce more power, im not sure what the 302s are putting out. I know in eather case youd need to replace/upgrade intake/exhaust for either of the mods but what would be the cheaper option.
Anyone do any of these?

Between me and my friends (one of them owns an auto shop) we could do it... i will wait until my warranty runs out before I begin anything though. I was just thinking it might be cheaper to swap a v8 and a solid axel instead of a supercharger or suspension lift. im not sure though because i havent seen a price for a supercharger and dont know what it cost for a v8 swap or a sas

RCD is much cheaper than SAS... hands down. ask anyone that has built a SFA Ranger how much money and testing and design they have put in their truck just to make it driveable. its alot.
Secondly the V8 swap? no way is it cheaper, look at all the stuff that Bob is doing and all the special parts, custom parts, wiring, etc etc...

those show for the Explorer SOHC, but they will bolt onto a Ranger with no problems IF you have the SOHC...

I'd stick with the 4.0L and maximize it's potential.
Swapping in a small block is a lot of work. Not only breathing ability but also fuel and strength of the downstream parts taking the abuse.
If your just bent on gaining 100hp **all the time** go with the blower or a turbo. If your wanting to just have fun every once in a while go with a ramped up nitrous kit. Ramping nitrous is the key to engine longevity.
Here is my wifes car / family car. We drive it at least 200 miles a week and never have a problem. It's going out of state twice here in the next few months and mixed in I'll be taking it to the track as well.

the supercharger prices are kits.....they come with EVERYTHING you need to install (well minus probably a few small items that cost nothing).....
if you have the skills/ability to fab and custom make things, then go with the 302 swap......
