Ranger Engine swapping

Are all ranger motors interchangeable.
For example:if i bought a 2001 ranger with a 3.0 v6 with 5 speed trani, and i found a 1995 4.0 v6 with an automatic trani, could i just swap them without changing anything. what about changing from a 4 cylinder to a v6???
Which years are interchangeable?

try using the search feature. There is all kinds of stuff on here about engine swaps.

No.

Not only are there variations of each engine through-out the years, but each have different PCMs, wiring harnesses, engine mounts, trans mounts (I think), exhaust systems, transmissions (some years/engines are shared) and I believe a few interior wiring pins/gauge sensors/senders.

I could be mistaken on a couple things, but it's by not quite plug & play.

this is more or less true, however it is more PnP than if you were to swap with an engine from an entirely different model vehicle (such as the mustangs swaps a lot of people do)
