Ranger - Explorer Parts Compatibility

I have a 2000 Ranger 3.0L and access to a 2000 Explorer 4.0L for parts. I was thinking of doing an engine swap seeing as how the parts are all there. I also like the white/faced dash with the tach, that my Ranger does not have. My question is, are the parts compatible/interchangable ?? I'm also likin the rims on the Expolrer.

Thanks for any input.

The gauges will work a ton of people have done it. You have recalabrate the odometer.

Lots of parts are interchangeable on them. Worth it if you can get it cheap enough!

My favorite is the OHC. The best investment IMO.

Just swap the faces and needles over and you won't have to worry about taking the whole thing apart to do the odometer.

But he has one without a tach and he also wanted the white face ones.

How much of a pain will it be to replace the engine and trans ? Wiring, computer, anything else. I'm assuming I will have to use "some" of the wiring harness from the 4.0L The engine has allot of miles so I will rebuild it, with a little attitude.

I read something about needing to replace the rear end of the Ranger also.

I couldn't figure out if this was the appropriate section to put the thread. My main concern is if everything will bolt on.

I sure appreciate all the input !!

Which engine do you think is in the Explorer?? It is a 2000 model. (OHV or the Complicated one LOL) I am reading about the different engines. I have access to the complete vehicle so any parts I need should be there.

Whats the OHC mod? Something with the dome light? I don't think I've ever seen it

OHC = Overhead Console. It has a temp gauge and a compass on it and two lights. Do a search and you will see pics.

In the Words of the WATER BOY, I'm gone go do it !! :) Gonna pull the engine and trans. rebuild the engine, with a little umph ! We'll see how that goes. I can't pass up 50hp. I"m thinking of port matching and doing something with the pipes but NO headers.
