symptoms of bad 02 sensor?

arent symptoms poor mileage, rough start, idle and run under load? advance is selling a cheapo 35$ oxy sensor and my father, nor me, has never replaced the stock one in 165K and 10 years of miles so i believe its in disrepair. and will change rear differential fluid save gas by giving boost to mpg, buddy says it wont but i know it will at least a little, also this has never been replaced by father.

changing diff fluid will NOT incease MPG's...doin the tranny fluid will help a lil....your right on the symptoms on the O2...but will also cause truck to run rich...you can smell it.

You don't need any stinkin O2 sensors.
just kidding. ^^ i agree with Hozll. in addition they aren't very hard to change, its just unplug and turn of a wrench, the fun part is usally getting the wrench in there.

Those are symptoms of a bad o2 sensor on an OBDI vehicle, on an OBDII vehicle, symptoms of a bad o2 sensor would be heater circuit codes, rich codes or lean codes. a rich code will cause the vehicle to run lean, and a lean code will cause the vehicle to run rich. o2 sensors dont commit suicide (except the heater circuit) there is usually something else that causes them to go bad...but replacement 100k intervals are recommended

justin is right, if you dont have a check engine light with codes for it i would leave them alone and if you decide you want to replace them, do not put after market ones in they are junk! if your check engine light isnt on now it will be if you put cheap ones in

my check light isnt on but truck runs super rough idle and often stalls when i roll out of the drive way. and the exhaut (from what i smell) smells like very very little gas IS making its way out, so idk, advance is having a sale on 02 sensors so just wanted opinions. this has always been a problem with my truck so just thought id bring it up

its hard to tell without having your truck in front of me but it sounds more like iac then o2 sensor but who knows maybe you should have someone look at it that knows what there doing before you start spending money on things that may not fix it

sorry it doesnt always work that way, you may not have any codes and if you do, you still have to diag it they dont just tell you whats wrong, they point you in the direction to look! whatever codes you may have, the solution still might be a couple different things

hard to say if TPS would cause it...if it was that far out of range to make it run rough, an inferred voltage based on load and MAF feed would take over id think.

we need the trouble codes before you start firing parts at it
