I've got a 84 ranger XLT 2.8 v6 4 speed over standard
cant find vin tag on transmission 1350 manual transfer case lock in lock out hubs I've got a 88 B2 with the 2.9 the 146 m transmission 5 speed 1350 transfer case can I swap the the whole trans and transfer case over or will it not interchange it my steps son first rig I bought him his real dad has passed away and was a ranger fanatic and got it for him any all help would be greatly appreciated

The 2.8l and 2.9l used same transmission bolt pattern so yes you can swap them around.
You need to swap over the flywheel, and maybe the starter motor
Clutch system need to match transmission not engine, so 2.9l FM146 clutch even though engine is 2.8l
May have to swap front drive line and may need to get another rear drive line from FM146 4x4 Ranger
I think the 5-speed was slightly longer than the 4 speed, so transfer case will be back a few inches farther, front drive line from B2 should fit
Rear probably not
You need to swap over the flywheel, and maybe the starter motor
