Power steering hose removal

Power steering hose removal
Does anyone know how to remove the pressure side hose from the steering pump on a 2004 2.8L Ranger?
The hose blew out of the metal pressed fitting. I removed the bottom end no problem. But the upper one is not giving up!
It is an 18mm going into a 27mm. I tried the 18mm first but the spanner has started to round the edges off. I am now trying the 27mm but there is simply nowhere to move the spanner! The sway bar is also in the way so I am going to take it off but I don;t think it will make a lot of difference. Any Ideas?
I have used a flare wrench/spanner and a crows foot 3/8 on the 18mm but it is just too tight. I don't have these in 27mm.
The other idea is to cut the metal pressed fitting off completely, replace the old hose this time over the metal tube and use a couple of pipe clamps.... ????

I went and cut the metal tube off about 1/4" from the nut. I could then get a 1" 1/16" (a bit larger than 27mm) socket on and eventually it gave a loud "crack" and i was then able to remove it.
The 18mm bolt inside the 27mm came off with the use of 2 ratchets, but it was really tight. Any reason why?
I will now weld the pipe back together once I have the new compressed fitting on.
Only thing is I noticed a small tube running across the steering piston which is disconnected on one side. Any idea how to remove this whole assembly?
