I have a 2003 ranger xl The running boards were rotted out AND i removed the old boards and brackets and discarded them. I was not going to replace them. but then i got a brand new oem take off set from a 2005 ranger . when i went to hook them up the bracket and the frame holes dont line up. i thought they would bolt right up. . any suggestions. am i missing something, the brackets apper to be the same as the ones i thru out.

 

Is this on an extended cab? The rear brackets are different between 2 door and 4 door extended cabs.

I THINK you are correct. now that i look at it. so i guess i need to find different brackets for the back the front brackets are the same. anybody got some they want to selll

 

Below are the factory part numbers for the brackets you're looking for. They're discontinued, so your local Ford dealer probably won't be able to get them unless they network with other dealers who might still have a set sitting in the back of their warehouse.
