why did you choose.........

.....to buy your Ranger vs. a fullsize truck such as an F-150?

I'm in the market right now for a used truck. I have owned and loved both a Ranger & F150 so I'm a little undecided on which direction to go. I love the look of the 93+ Rangers but really enjoyed the extra space of the full size truck line. The fuel economy sucked in my old F150 and at three bucks a gallon, the Ranger looks a lot more reasonable. Truthfully, the Ranger is all the truck I need, but I'd still like to hear from you all as to why you chose your ranger over a full sized truck.

Thanks!

gas usage......i almost bought a 2003 F-150 Extended cab FX4 before i decided that i probably wouldn't be able to afford the gas for the 5.4L. otherwise i would of gotten a F150

I got a ranger cause I wanted my truck to be unique since I was planning to lift and mod it. You see hundreds of lifted full size on a weekly basis around here....I wanted to be different.

at the time i couldnt only really afford a ranger if i wanted something with lower miles and in good condition. aside from that gas millage was another big issue..

but now that i look back i would have much rather had a f150 because i get close to the same millage with much less power and rangers are just overall poorly designed

i bought this truck for offroading and trips to the slopes...the ranger is a perfect size for offroading...fullsize was overkill for me...and there is always price...

I have always loved the Ranger line. It has been something I liked ever since I was a kid. I didn't think of getting any other truck but a white 4x4 4.0

I was orginally looking for a Tacoma, but Carmax had my Ranger on the lot and I feel in love with it and the parents said ok. I don't have a need for a full size right now, thats why I went with a compact truck.

Mileage and price is my main concerns but they are also easy to sell. I've had a few...lol

Always liked their look, not many of the body style ranger I have around here, and I dont need a fullsize. I also loved the jumpseats because I knew I wouldnt have to give more then one person a ride since nobody wants to set in them but if I have to I can. I also love how the super cabs have just open space in the back when the jump seats are folded up.
The thing I wish was different from the factory on my truck is that it had the 4.0 or a v8 instead of the 3.0.

Ohh and I knew they were good offroad and on, they just float compared to the heavier fullsize trucks.

overall poorly designed
I beg to differ. Back to the point: I have no need for an F150. As my screen names implies, I am on my 5th Ranger. I like the vehicle - a little outdated, but not poorly designed. It is comfy for a truck, gets decent mileage and looks good. I rarely haul anything, so I have no need for anything bigger. In my book, bigger isn't always better, especially with the high cost of vehicles and the difference in price between the two.

well im pretty sure the pic will be a Ranger, now i just need to find the right one.

im pretty much set on buying a 93-97 Ranger 4x4, preferably automatic, 4.0L v6, styleside, with a manual transfer case. gotta find a good candidate now.

I had a f-150. for the power and size its not worth it. next full size will either be a f-250 or F-350 or bronco last body style.

other then that i will just stick with rangers. they fit better in tight area's, they park better, they look better IMO, i dont have kids yet so no need for full size back seats.

thats pretty much it

Small, Compact, and Powerful

Small truck great for wheeling (most trucks are bigger so getting towed out is easier)
It can tow enough weight even if it's over the max limit
Not everybody wants a ride because it's a "small truck"
It can fit 5 adults if you really want to or need to (tight fit but it can happen)
Do you really need a fullsize truck? More space is nice but is it really needed? It can tow more than most will tow with it. If you need a fullsize truck you wouldn't be asking this question. A fullsize truck would be needed if you tow heavy trailers, heavy loads, have 4 adult passengers on a regular basis, and if you have so much money you just want to get one. I like full size trucks but overall most people that own one don't really need it. A Ranger can tow a bass boat, 22' travel trailer, and another Ranger on a flatbed trailer. I'm a little biased toward Rangers though

ive owned several versions of trucks, from full size to monster truck to mini taco (toyota tacoma) and now my ranger. my favorite was my 03 silverado 2500HD. ten inch lift kit, 4 nch body 37 in tires. LOOOOAAAADDDDEEEEDD. myers plow, tow pig. 8.0ltr motor with 24gallon tank. 6 miles per gallon. needed every option on the truck. plowed huge piles of snow in the winter and towed all kinds of landscaping trailers and equipment in the summer. i dont live in cleveland anymore (for now) so didnt need the truck. reason i have my ranger is it met every requirement i was looking for. ive got a 99 4.0 V-6 4X4 tow package. had to have 4 doors, tow front and rear, v-6 or bigger, automatic, electronic 4 wheel drive, full power. i had actually signed the loan for a 98 blazer with tons more options but it didnt pass my dealerships trade in specs. (it was coming in from trade from another customer) looked at a tahoe but it was too big for my girl to drive. then saw the ranger in the back lot , took it for a test drive and loved it. fit what i needed. and i got a hell of a deal on it.

small, gas (though the fx4....heh), parents kinda forced me...such as "an f150 is way to much truck for you", price (again with the fx4 heh didnt happen....), had to get a ford cause my grandma worked for them and we get an extra nice discount....and simply cause i wanted a truck and dont plan on hauling or towing much at all. and most guys at school have trucks...so why drive a friggin, idk, carolla or somthing.
