Is this really Ranger-Forums?

Call me old fashioned, and I appreciate any help you guys have given me or given anyone else on here, but this isn't "whatever you drive" forums. It's ranger forums. I'll even go with Ranger based. I am just tired of watching all these people flip their so called loyalty to other makes. Especially in a time when it is so crucial to remain consistant in the buying market. I don't want to hear"well, the Tacoma(just an example) is made in America" I don't care. The money from the sale of that truck goes directly overseas and is invested in another country's market, not ours. Whether it be cars, clothes or whatever, we have a North American Free Trade Agreement. The American dollar continues to crumble in foreign markets and it has finally taken it's toll. Thank you for listening I am done now. I need a Tylenol. Go ahead D--I know somebody is going to rip me up.(or maybe a few)

Ok.... I know it bothers some people. And to each his own. But didn't we just have a big thread about this?

I mean I understand where your coming from, but who cares what people drive. It's their dollar. And it's a public forum. So I say let them stay. But maybe I'm just a push over.

if you buy a Ford product i dont mind as much because latest its still Ford

why would it be "crucial to remain consistent" when purchasing a new vehicle? not to mention if its a used vehicle then it doenst matter at all.

i have to find the post by gearhead but it revolved around the fact that people fist come here because they own a ford ranger... over time their needs, wallet, likes change but the love the atmosphere here (must say its the best forum ive been on, i disagree with some of the people on here but overall i love it).....

when i first was looking for a truck i fell in love with the ranger, nothing else looked as good all around that was in my price range. over time little things about rangers started to annoy me such as power (yeah ive got a 3.0 but once again price) gas millage for such a chitty engine, the way that parts are designed, stupid serp belt squeaking for no reason (had mechanics look at in and they had no idea and im sure they would sell me something even they even thought it was a pulley) just little things... dont get me wrong, i love MY ranger, but i dont like rangers in general anymore after i have explored my options... i had a tacoma for a weekend and absolutely loved it, power, space, quality seemed so much better than my ranger... once again price though...

but in the end, peoples interests and needs change but were such a tight knit forum that no one wants to leave

i agree with you if they started off with a ranger then changed... seems stupid to me if someone were to join with a tacoma and ask tacoma questions...but im all for them sticking around if the switched over

I started out with a Ranger and then went to an F-150 and then to an 08 Escape. My needs changed, I need more seating.

Started off with a ranger as well, hell i've been over at Gen-Edge since 2004! I follow suit with the "my needs changed" response as
A. I needed a people hauler .
B. Didnt want crappy truck/SUV mileage.
C. Got a good deal on my car and is something i've always wanted.

The people here are (by and large) great conversationalists, very mechanically inclined, and just plain know a lot about Rangers. I'd hate to lose that knowledge base simply because their needs/desires have changed.

Maybe when Christian gets back he could look into creating another forum category called "Other Rides" or something like that.

How about the classic answer for a question such as this...

"Its just the internet."

i like my toyota, didnt really care for the ranger anymore. wanted something more rare and different that you see everyday. wanted a car, but still needed a truck. so i went with what i could get with that, and what i really wanted. you wouldnt catch me dead in a stx ranger, or colorado xtreme.

I dunno I dont care if a guy drives a taco now and helps me out with my ranger cause he use to own one. Personally I dont care if my dollar goes to america or not. Maybe America should make better products thus would earn my dollar. If I honestly thought the tacoma was better I wouldnt drive a ranger to "support america" thats stupid. Why on earth would anyone buy a POS just because its made in america. I want the best product so if american companys want my money they better have in my eyes the best product. I really dont think I want a truck so much anymore. I either want more Room like a F150 or a sports car like a cobra. Basically america is built on only the strong survive, so if american products cant best imports, then well the imports will survive, im not about to invest my hard earn money on america just because I live here.

I think RentonRanger has a good idea to make another section in the forums for other vehicles. If this really is more of a community than a ranger forum, why don't / shouldn't the forums reflect that? If someone else buys something besides a Ranger, that's there own personal decision. Great, who cares. I agree they should be allowed to stay in this community, they are a valuable asset no matter what they drive. Maybe just take it easy and remember alot of people are here just for Rangers and don't necessarily want to hear about your Toyota on a Ranger Forum.

If people are buying Toyotas and still comig back to ranger forums even if they own one anymore...doesnt that say something? I dont think someting like this should be taken too serioulsy. I mean, no matter how anyone sees it, their just cars.....its not about loyalty.

just because somebody went from a ranger to a tacoma doesnt mean that they lost all that info that could help a guy out with his ranger. his mind doesnt get traded in with the ranger, even though it should, who likes those things neways lol

Toyota's are ok, are they goods gift to the truck comunity....I don't think so.
(thats just my opinion, take it or leave it.) I know most people don't care wheather they buy american or not but most people aren't from steel producing communities. I have watched our steel mill go from having over 3500 employee's to less than 500 ( here's an old news story: http://www.wtov9.com/news/4590669/de...=steu&psp=news ) Will it help to buy american? maybe and maybe not but you won't see any forien cars in my driveway. Maybe the big three should just close down...
Sorry had to vent a little
John
