can the mirror not seperate from its base on the windshield? if so just remove it like that and cut around the base when you do the tint. i have done several cars like this and it always comes out looking clean. and you dont have to worry about your mirror falling off cause it doesnt stick to the tint

it should be pretty straight forward. there are usually a small clip on the back of the mirror going into the base or you just pull. shouldnt be hard to get off at all

You may need chemicals to get the glue to break down. I know it's not really meant to come off.

Stick a long small flat blade screw driver in the square hole at the bottom of the mirror base to release the lock. Now wiggle it up and it will come off. Make sure you are careful to not hit the windshield.

Step 1. Left hand on windshield
Step 2. Right hand on mirror
Step 3. yank
Step 4. Done

To put it back on slide the mirror over the top of the base and down until it clicks.

I think the OP was looking at getting the metal base off the windshield. At least that was my understanding.

The mirror

It just slide down that metal tab, that tab is glue to the windshield. I can't remember if it has a set screw or clip that has to be removed before the mirror can be slid up and off that tab. Take some measurements before you remove the tab off the glass, or mark the other side of the glass so you can get it lined up when you glue it back on.

Good Luck...
