Regular cab or Extended cab?

Which do you like best for both looks and function?

On a side note, do you think you'd lose any gas mileage by having a extended cab instead of a reg cab? with the 4cyl 5spd manual.

i dont like a reg cab because 1 i cant lean my seat back....2 if u have a system all of your leg room is gone...as far as gas mileage idont think that it would make much of a difference..

I have a regular cab and I wish everyday that I had the extended. I bought it used, but being 6ft2 and having to stay the night at peoples houses all the times I could definately of used the extra space.

bwester04 Sep 2, 2006 11:01 PM

I dont think i could have a reg. cab after having an ext. cab, its not a crap load of room but its nice having the extra space..

GrafixGuy Sep 2, 2006 11:14 PM

now that I'm comuting to college I'm looking for an ext. cab. I want more room!!!

DanOzSTX Sep 3, 2006 02:09 AM

Im 6'2" also and even before I had kids riding in back I knew an ext cab was the choice for me. My first Ranger I bought new, and I could afford either ext cab or 4x4. I chose ext cab. Now I just bought this one and with 2 rugrats I had to have the ext cab, but this time I could also have the 4wd. Im a happy camper now, especially if I had 4th gear in my truck

You need another choice up there...

The Poll choices should be...
  • Regular Cab
  • SuperCab 2 door
  • SuperCab 4 door

2 vs. 4 door makes a world of difference.
If I could have, I would have bought another 4 door. The space is alot easier to get to, and it's alot easier to upgrade the speakers, and clean the windows...

I've had a reg cab & 4 door super. Even though I'm only 5'7", I can tell you the super cab is definetly better !!!!!!!

Silver Sep 3, 2006 07:27 AM

ext cab only and i only wish i would have gotten the 4 doors

Lone Ranger 93 Sep 3, 2006 07:43 AM

i wish 4 doors was an option for mine!

gumby Sep 3, 2006 07:45 AM

for me, i had to compromise and get the ex.cab. when i bought my EDGE, i was a single guy, and the reg cab was great. i like the looks better, its more maneuverable, has better breakover points for the trails(less likely to get high centered).
now ive got family in tow, and the 4door ex.cab is great for that. i jus hafta deal with everything i dont like as well, like parkin this beast, and take the better on-road ride and towing capablility from the longer wheelbase as my pluses.

When I was truck shopping I told my dad I'll just get reg cab, save some money. He was like..no, you HAVE to get ext cab. Thank god he made me do it cause it's really useful for traveling and camping. If you put tools back there you don't have to dig into your bed everytime. Even though its small, it can fit 2 people if needs be.

jtslmn720 Sep 3, 2006 08:36 AM

id never go back, my dad has a reg cab and its ok but i couldnt live w/o my 4 doors now because its just so conveinant...

ranger Sep 3, 2006 09:14 AM

extra cab for life, i hate the looks of the reg cab no offense.

a311fanam Sep 3, 2006 09:21 AM

one of the reasons im trading in my reg cab is that its too small, im gettin a f150

Gearhead61 Sep 3, 2006 11:02 AM

When I was truck shopping I knew I had to get an extended or crew cab. Well, I couldn't afford a toyota crew cab and I didn't want a Chevy/Dodge/GMC... the 4 door extended cab was enough to push me over the edge for the ranger.

That being said, I don't think I could have managed without the ext. cab. The extra space isn't much, but it's perfect for storing books or an overnight bag, and the 4 doors makes it SO easy to get to! I'm sure when it comes to mileage it doesn't really help because of the added weight, but IMO it more than makes up for the lost miles and the extra cost in its functionality and safety (from getting things snatched out of the bed).

Roach2004 Sep 3, 2006 11:48 AM

I want an extended cab.

Trigger01 Sep 3, 2006 02:54 PM

I perfer the Extended cab, but I would rather have the ext. cab 2 door instead of my 4 door.

gatorblue92 Sep 3, 2006 03:25 PM

i like the look of a regular cab but the usefulness of an extended cab

SouthernMudSlinger Sep 3, 2006 05:53 PM

Looks like almost everybody likes the Extended cab over the Reg. Cab. I got to thinking that I might just get a Extended cab, cause i'll have the extra room for my system thats comming out of my old truck, and still have plenty of leg room. Here is an extended cab im looking at, and the good thing is that its only about an hour away, compared to the others being 2 hrs away, and the price is pretty good too.

lifted97ranger Sep 3, 2006 05:57 PM

extended cab should be the only option in a ranger.....the regular cab is just way too small for almost anyone.....

got-dirty Sep 3, 2006 06:04 PM

i was beginning to hate my reg cab more and more. but thinkin about it in regards to the sas, its more usefull. but still, after i pay my truck off, i will be getting something bigger as a daily.

Master Urza Sep 4, 2006 12:23 AM

I can't do the regular cab. I'm 6'3" with long legs, I need the leg room to drive, or I can't get from the gas to the brake while wailing on the horn if an idiot cuts me off.

I disagree. Look at all of the Rangers used as fleet trucks out there...they are usually regular cabs. The regular cab keeps the Ranger competitive in the fleet market, and fleet sales are essential for the Ranger.

I get by fine with a regular cab. I really prefer the way it looks over Super Cabs, but a Super Cab would be more practical. I do have to get creative if I have a passenger and have to carry stuff that can't go in the bed. I would buy a regular cab again though, as the space issue is far from being my biggest concern.

Roach2004 Sep 4, 2006 09:54 AM

I like the extended cabs for the added space but I like my regular cab.
