Quick Question

I have a single-cab ford ranger that I am looking to outfit with sub-woofers, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what subs I should get... I want something nice, but I don't want to blow the bank to get them... I was also wondering where I can put them once I get them, any suggestions? (i accidentally posted this in the introduce yourself forums, and so i thought maybe more people would see it here)

since you are a reg cab, your limited with space. your boxes would have to be thin enough to fit behind the seats. or you could do a cut through (proper name?) this is when you cut a hole between the bed and the cab and put the subs there so you have more cubic feet for air.

You would pretty much be limited to a "truck box". I use to have an old 12" Polk sub in my 02, but with the box I was unable to recline the seat to a comfortable position in the truck. It lasted maybe a week before I took it out.

I have a regular cab and I have given up on trying to fit in a "system". Get a nice head unit and some good speakers. That'll do ya.

I just built a custom box for one 10" sub behind the seats. It's the proper volume for most SVC 10" subs and only cost me around $30 total. I didn't lose one click of seat room or any reclining room on either seat. You just have to take measurements carefully.

You could always go for a shallow mount sub. There are some out there that require less airspace than others.. Check out Crutchfield for all of the specs on any subs/amps you're thinking about buying. They also have wiring diagrams (for ohm levels) to wire up your amplifier and sub correctly to get the best sound and the longest life out of your subs and amp.

another option is to do a seat swap and use a console from the 290 watt stereo equipped trucks. you'd have a console, and a small 8" sub inside the console.
