BL shifter extension sucks

for those of you with bodylifts and 5spd trucks who have the shifer extension.

They suck huh? Lately at times when i'm trying to shift it will like jam up, it's like i cant get it into gear quickly because the shifter will get caught up, does anyone else ever have this problem? i think my truck has the shifter extension, and the mazda shift part too. It sucks when this happens though

I dont have any issues with the extension, maybe its your trans. When mine is cold sometimes its hard to get into gear, I just let the clutch out then push it back in and off I go.

My shifter hit the console in 2nd 4th and reverse after I did my BL and shift extension. I just pulled the dremel tool out and trimmed it up a bit. I didnt have problems getting it into gear, it would just hit the console. Maybe you installed the extension backwards?

My truck is hard to get into 1st and Rev. To get into first I either have to downshift into 1st before I stop or put it in 2nd and jjam it forward. Same deal with rev only I have to use 5th...Freakin sucks. I don't even have no shift extension

If i ever had a standered truck i would have to cut / weld it so it was a short throw... I did it on my car that i had and it was great.....went from 5inches of shift (1st to 2nd) to about 2inchs....

If i had a truck i would do it so i wasnt punching the dash....

Just my .02

I was having this very problem, which is why my truck is in the shop now. After I put the lift on it was fine, but then I started having problems with all gears, and $2000 later it was fixed. Now I am having the problem again, so I brought it back for warranty work. Its not the lift that does it, its the Transmission. When they tell me whats wrong with mine I can let you know, because mine would kinda go half way in, then stop. You really had to throw the shifter at the Grille to get into first at a stop, and even when driving it was the same.

^Its the sincronizers (sp) inside the transmission that are not working right, they are brass and wear out over time...

I guess im pretty lucky for my truck to have 138k miles on it, and it shifts through the gears just fine, and slides into any gear you want while stopped.

The sad part is it doesn't matter what it was. You can't get out of a tranny shop without spending $2000 if you have them do the work. It's almost a fact as far as I'm concerned.

Honestly it's probly a leaking clutch slave or master cylinder (the master can leak internally and not loose any fluid) or a poorly bled clutch system. If the clutch isn't fully releaseing then it will get extremely difficult to get into any gear.

hitting the console while shifting;

first i trimmed it and put the screws back in but in new holes, i htink thats what i did anyways. i dunno my pops helped me with it. So it was better for a while. then the big plastic peice finally gave and broke(the plastic piece right under the boot, like the big plastic black kind of plate) its hard to explain.

But then i flipped the plastic plate piece over and reinstalled it. thats how it is now. But sometimes its hard to push the shifter into gear. I definitely don't have the money to bring it to a tranny shop. I guess i'll just have to drive the bastard. I dunno

My clutch is fine. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th shift smooth as hell. It's 1st and reverse that are acting ghey. The most used gears, to start out at least but second shifts perfect. Hella better than reverse. First gear is the worst though. I pushed so hard a couple times, I thought I was gonna bend the stick so I dogged it in second to get going.

yea, when the clutch isn't fully releasing like that it will have it's largest affect on the gears when you are not moving. when you are moving the synchros dont have to work as hard to line things up, when you are stopped thay have to physically move the gears into place and if one side is dragging or catching a little it can be even harder to do that. I had that issue with the first tranny i had in till I completely blew the insides to pieces... but I didn't drive it very nicely though. When I had that issue though to get it in i would just kind of bounch it on 2nd gear to use the 2nd gear synchros to line it up then slide it up into first, I wouldnt completely go into 2nd though, just half bounce it.

My shifter is totally different now. I took a soddering iron to the cup holder console and melted even MORE plastic off of it on the side where 1st and 2nd gears are. I do need a new black plate though. right now mine is on the explorer side. Because i broke off pieces of the ranger side. do you know what piece im talkin about? It does shift a little tough into 1st gear right now. but completely different goes into the gears very smoothly. i'm psyched. my truck is so ghetto

I never had any problems shifting mine and I drove the truck hard. So I don't really have any help for you.
