CLUTCH!

So my clutch has been acting up for the past few months. hardly no play in the clutch. it engages in the last like 2 in of the pedal. its been this way for awhile until now.... now its like the last 1 in of the pedal and now its "squaking" a little when i let the clutch out..... frustrating.... but the weird part is that it shifts into and out of gear perfectly fine.... no fighting at all. pretty smooth.. so i called around. ppl say its the slave cyl. going out. got prices to get a new clutch installed. prices range from $750-$875 with parts and labor. most places are going to install what they call a "LuK" brand. is this an ok brand? ok prices? symptoms sound right for a faulty slave? any help appreciated...

Dave

Clutch suck when they go out.

I would bet its the slave. Mine had the same problem. The slave went bad.

The "Luk" clutch is a great brand. Its one of the best.

I got mine done for $800 with a 3 year warranty.

Mine is doing the same thing. I have a Centerforce clutch kit and a Rhino Pack slave. Not even a year old and its going out again. I'm thinking about selling.

It seems to me that Ford OEM is Luk, anyone else see this on clutches they install from a Ford box? The pressure plate is stamped Luk.

750 with labor is DIRT cheap. My clutch was 1900$ alone and labor is 1000-1500 if you don't do it yourself like I did. On the truck it should be a really easy job.

DIY <$400 with a new flywheel.

2 days of leisure work at the most if you've never done it before.

If you have a v6 and want to do any exhaust work, the y pipe is coming off anyway. A good time to add headers. Hell, for the price of labor if you had someone else do it you could buy headers.

Just go with a centerforce! I am rocking a vatozone slave and it has a lifetime warranty!
