Centralia is open!

Well the gf has been wanting to see centralia for some time. So i took here up tonite to show her around. And just for giggles i decided to see if i could get the truck over the mounds of dirt that were placed there last year, well i got the truck over the top entrance. Pics!

The lower entrance is a bit steeper then the top entrance but non the less you can get into it.

I'm thinking there should be a meet.

Centralia is an abandoned town in Pennsylvania that was built ontop of old coal mines that started on fire 46 years ago. the entire town's population left and the buildings were torn down or left to rot.

Not the entire town, theres a good 5-10 people still living there, most of the buildings were torn down or have been left to rot.

John Griggs came out with a dvd of a ranger meet/wheelin' trip up at Centralia. Seems like one hell of a neat place. Which reminds me...I want to find that dvd and watch it! It's been about 2 years since I've seen it.

On the DVD, there's special features that tell your about the old mine and it's history...even a bunch of pics of it in it's heyday. (or however you speel that. lol)

I have the DVD. I haven't watched it in a while. I guess I need to dig it out. I'd love to play there.
