Sad story.

I probably posted this thread in the wrong place, But It seemed right to me. Any help would be appreciated..

This Ranger was a perfect truck when I bought it @ 96,000 miles. It was a heck of an off road truck. It will go anywhere without hesitation, I've always babied it cause I'm over protective.

BUT!!! Now, the brakes are really weak. It feels like I'm pulling a trailor when I hit the throttle.. The steering is tightening up.. AND!! When I take it to a mechanic they say, it's fine.. WHAT THE HELL!? It makes noise when I get on the throttle, like gargle noise. It sounds like garbage in the morning when I crank it. The transmission kicks my *** every time it shifts out of third and 90% of the time it feels like it won't shift.. The damn truck feels like a weight.

AND!! The four wheel drive modulator went out. It's an FX4, what the heck is the point of having this truck if the damn 4x4 doesn't engage.?? I'm not made of money and I'm not a mechanic.

Things I have done. -

Air filter.
Oil Change.
Trans flush, I used Lucas too.
Throttle body cleaned.
MAF cleaned.
Fuel injectors cleaned.
New spark plugs, new wires.
Changed brake pads.

HELP!!!!

hard to believe a mechanic would say your truck is "fine" . He must be lazy and doesn't want to work. most mechanics will "find" every major problem if you ask them to look at your truck.

You would think so, wouldn't ya? Trust me!! I want to hear what's wrong with it. I'm not making it up, buddy.

My point is.. The only person who can honestly know what's wrong with their car is the one who drives it every day. It feels different. I hear things and I'm no happy with the little things. I want those little things fixed. I know there's not much most of you guy's can say since your not looking at it but.. This is a ranger forum and maybe one of you has a similar problem and could point me in the right direction.

96k rolling with stock brake fluid? How's it look...brown? It needs a full flush. Start to look at the master cyl or the booster as well.

What do you mean by the steering has "tightened up"?? Don't you want a tight steering, rather a sloppy 20yr old steering?

The tcase issue.......common problem. There's threads everywhere regarding this. It's a common issue with the electronic transfer cases. FIXIT! Switch & engagement motor are usually the culprit.

If you dont want to fix it, sell it. Things break, things wear out....it happens. I'm on slave cyl #4, and having clutch issues with slave #4 right now.
