So this is a banging deal on these axles. Wish I had the garage and the extra car cause I would be doing an SAS swap with these guys.

and the D44 still has drum brakes? I would take the D60 if it really had discs but nothing else is useful for any of us except the knuckles possibly. and whats a dodge 1 1/4 ton axle?

Why would the passenger side dif matter? Learn something new everyday. LOL

 

because the front drive shaft comes down the driver side of the tranny and engine.. that pumpkin would be on the wrong side of the truck, it might work if you were sky high, had some magical drive shafts, and had no articulation.

if you look carefully you can see the t-case flange. you need to have a straight shot...ish

 

Oh gotcha. That makes sense didn't think of that.

 

just to clarify a little more.. standard ranger transfer cases are driver's side drop. IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE to have a passenger side drop.. easiest way by running a divorced transfer case.. but then that would in turn run into clearance problems with the gas tank. and of course the cluster of exhaust pipe and catalytic converters on the passenger side.. so i agree with matt driver's side is your best bet

 

or you can do a chevy power train and then your t-case would dump the drive shaft to the pass. side.

or you can get a t-case you can flip and buy an adapter, dana 300?
or you can buy an atlas, stak, or any other brand t-case that just bolts up with an adapter, some linkage and new cross members.


it is possible, I'm not 100% the gas tank would be a problem but there's a good chance considering the ranger t-case is pretty tiny compared to other ones out there, you could also have an issue of it not fitting between the frame rails lol, but you would DEFINITELY have an issue with all the exhaust plumbing.
