Saw a newer crew cab ranger today

Globalization in it of itself isn't terrible, I suppose. My biggest problem is this new style that every manufacturer is going with is a copy/paste and it seemingly isn't tailored to work for the vehicle in the first place.
Take the white ranger up there in the pics. Aside it being the Ford Ranger, for some reason, it's body lines are boring and it's cosmetics are uninspiring at best. Granted, this is low hanging fruit being a single color (not even a metallic one at that) with absolutely nothing on it, no mods to speak of, and stamped steel wheels; basically a fleet vehicle if I ever saw one.
It looks to me like they took a box with a bed on it, stuck some euro headlights on it, barely even profiled the tip of the hood to the top of the roof lines, and just ever so slightly pulled out the wheel wells just enough so that you can't call it flat and said 'alright, done, ship it'.
Now, had they actually gave it some real curves and other features on it, it might not actually look terrible. But as it sits now, it's so minimalist it's unreal.

Yeah, pretty much. At least if you put a stepside bed on the F150 (before they got rid of that option) it would look....somewhat OK. Never noticed that until now, lol.
You know, it seems like real close to 1996 is when everything started becoming.... less.... good looking, with a few exceptions. I say 96 specifically, because that's when OBDII was standardized and put on every car/truck/suv/van/everything. Standards seem to bring boringness with them in most cases.

Holding out to see 2018/2019 Ranger
I test-drove a 2016 Chevy Colorado Crew 4x2 with the Duramax Diesel and 6-speed automatic...decided to wait until Ford releases the new Ranger before I decide. Currently driving a Jeep Wrangler, but I want to get back into a truck (and not a Jeep Wrangler truck...)

If that's what they'll be putting out, I hope it sinks like a stone.
If they can't reuse the old design with some tweaks, at least a pickup version of the new explorer would look better. Front end of the explorer but with a cab and bed with a marginally longer wheel base. That, I would buy.
