It happened to a friend of mine's son... he was trying to sublet his apt for the summer and the guy sent him a check, asking him to send 5000 back... he got screwed, ended up owing the full amt for the cheque to the bank, plus had to pay for his apt all summer, plus almost got charged with fraud himself.

no im not, it may seem like the government is trying to stop this but like somebody already said theyre in another country. we cant touch them unless their own country helps us. but seeing how most of these scams originate in the lovely country of Benin(right beside nigeria) we can do nothing. not to mention these scans only affect the little ol poor folk who get caught up in getting rich quick. the rich people are smart enough to realize a scam, so basically im saying the government could care less how much money the average poor person here gets scammed out of.

have over $3600 in mechanical repairs(in the last 6 months) and can't afford to to the body work anymore.

If you really wanna mess with those scamers play them along and send them a fake rubber check back. Turn the scam on them when they try to deposit the rubber check in their account.
