scamp trailers

any one looked into them? i was showing them to my wife, and she was interested in them. i noticed they have a super light 5th wheel clocking in at 2000 lbs. I dont have any experience with 5th wheels, what is needed for towing them? obviously some kind of hitch set up in the bed, but what?

Thanks

You'd need a fifth wheel in your bed. They are removable too so when you don't need it, all you have is 2 brackets attached to the frame sitting on the bed floor.

Yeah you need a 5th wheel hitch. I have never looked at those trailers but I am guessing the plan is to tow it with the ranger?

I have seen a picture of a ranger hooked up to one. Those trailers are really light, so I doubt there would be a problem.

i believe the SCAMP is still being made today.
the BURRO stopped production in the late 70's/early 80's.

why the fifth wheel option? why not a traditional hitch mount?

The ranger frames are much smaller then a full sizes frame.

I like the look of teardrop trailers. I'd probably get a tent trailer because you can carry stuff on the roof on some of the new ones.

you could use only if your planning on towing the same trailer, which i assume you are. The bolts are just going to need to line up with the frame and the hitch mounts. If you go to a bigger trailer when you get a fullsize, if you do that is, you will need to upgrade the hitch to one with a higher weight rating
