ScanGauge?

I've been a member here for not even a week and you guys have made me con myself into a scangauge.

From what I can tell they are pretty much universal to vehicles, as long as they have OBD II plugs right?

Also, my truck is bone stock (except for some stickers) will a scangauge be worth me getting?

Thanks, Jacob

I will let you know just got an email that mine shipped and I have a bone stock 07 Ranger FX4. LOL

Becker Nov 30, 2008 07:27 PM

Sounds good.

By the way, what is the Polic Interceptor Package you have in your sig?

GR8COM Nov 30, 2008 07:29 PM

its the Police Interceptor Badge from a Crown Vic on my truck....LOL

jaycheetwood Nov 30, 2008 07:30 PM

No its not he just has a brush guard on..

Next.. I would say use the search tool and make love to it.. there are alot of threads on scangauges.

All its going to do is give you output on how your truck is running.

Becker Nov 30, 2008 07:31 PM

Lol Hell I thought it was some sweet package that I've never heard of.

Way to get a guy's hopes up...

jaycheetwood Nov 30, 2008 07:34 PM

Yeah its not gonna make your truck perform any better than it does,, its a OBDII reader not a programmer. If thats what you are looking for use search tool cause its come up alot lately on tuners.

For the price its great, I love being able to monitor 4 functions all the time. The code reader is the biggest plus to me, I use it all the time for my truck and friends/family cars. I highly recommend it.

robert99ranger Nov 30, 2008 07:37 PM

I am thinking about getting one for Chirstmas. All it will do is tell you different things on how your truck is performing as mpg, temps of different stuff, stuff like that. Also, if you ever get bigger or I guess smaller tires, you can set it up to were the speedo on the scangauge will read correctly while your stock gauge will be off. And the whole read and clear code deal.

jaycheetwood Nov 30, 2008 07:38 PM

Yeah i think they are a great product to and would love to get one in the near future as well just cause of the idea of monitoring all of that.

Becker Nov 30, 2008 07:57 PM

I realize that they are only "gauges" and not a programmer.

I was just wanting to know if it was really worth having on a stock truck without mods.

04blackedge Nov 30, 2008 07:59 PM

Yes I say its worth it on a stock truck. The only tuner that displays the info is the SCT Livewire and I think thats like 500?

jaycheetwood Nov 30, 2008 08:03 PM

Yeah it is 500.. but its like adding the scangauge and the Xcal2 together isnt it?

04blackedge Nov 30, 2008 08:04 PM

Basically it is. I wish there was a way we could just use a laptop and tune our trucks like you can with imports, that would be awesome.

There is. Rich does this regularly i hear.

04blackedge Nov 30, 2008 08:12 PM

He has the tuner though, I think he writes the tunes on the laptop, transfers them to the tuner and then to the computer. I don't have the knowledge to write my own tunes anyway though.

jaycheetwood Nov 30, 2008 08:25 PM

haha yeah sounds like a little to much for me.. and i wonder the $$$ on the software.

04blackedge Nov 30, 2008 08:25 PM

I vaguely remember him saying something about maybe 350?

jaycheetwood Nov 30, 2008 08:45 PM

Yeah so 350 plus the tuner.. so I think thats 500 - 650??

SVT01RANGER Nov 30, 2008 08:49 PM

yes its worth it,. my 2001 is bone stock, and i love knowing what my truck is doing when i drive it
