Second fuel pump?

Second fuel pump?

For all you guys that have replaced fuel pumps.
Where is the second fuel pump? i already replaced the one that's actually in the tank, but i need to replace the other, but all be dammed if i can find it.

Yes, my truck and other of it's year, don't know about other years, but yes i have two fuel pumps, one in the tank itself, and one somewhere in the line (god knows where)

do you have 2 tanks? it must just be a 88 thing. just follow the fuels lines and it should turn up eventually.

Ok after a quick google search i found out your second one is located on the frame, driver side under the cab.

Yes, the 2.9's have a primary pump in the fuel tank, and a secondary pump on the frame rails

yep its by the crossmember on the drivers side on the inside of the frame it has a metal shield around it, i used 2 have a 87 with the 2.9 & had 2 change that pump

My dad has been lucky with his. Right now it has almost 290k on it and to my knowledge with the stock pumps. And I probably just cursed it

Ok i have located the fuel filter, and the in-line fuel pump.
And boy all tell ya... those two things are gonna be a b*tch to replace, mainly cause I'm a bigger guy, and don't have much clearance.
Thank god for ramps!

Thanks... but i would of rather kept looking for them in the days, than found them and saw what hellish position they are in under the cab. lol

ya i dont quite remember were mine was i thought it was by the crossmember on the inside of the frame. it was in 2002 i think when i changed mine & traded the truck in on my 04 in 2004 so its been a few yrs
