I don't care what they add or change. Newer vehicles are getting much more difficult to work on. That's why I love my 70's Fords. Very simple to work on.

Plus it would be out of my price range (poor college student)

I have all the truck I need in my 07 xlt, I know its not a size issue but I can't see out the rear view mirror over the tail gate in my truck if some one is right up on my ***. I could not imagine my wife trying to back up a full size F-150 down our drive way and thinking its clear just using the side mirrors. I stand 6 foot 3 inches and the top of the F-150 tail gate is just below my shoulder height. As that goes, getting in and out of something that high can get tiring quick....I like getting my truck in my garage too. I don't think I could a walk around a F150 if I had to either with both cars in the garage. Its nice but it has gotten way to big....

man thats gay, first they try to offer a big truck then the gayest piece of **** ever, than another gay *** car, geeze X100 on everyone that said ford don't get it, good thing i like my vintage trucks or i'd be screwed, discontinuing the ranger is almost as bad as not offering the new 6.7L scorpion without a manual transsmission option, i don't think they offer the manuel option for any of their pickups, its soo gay, ford really has been pissing me off later

Exaggerate much? I'm only 5'9" and they're not that high. I have no issues getting in and out of my dad's F-150 and I never get "tired" of climbing in and out. It doesn't seem like you have any experience around them, much like a lot of folks on here.

I kinda like the looks of the ranger granted some exterior changes are needed. The main things needing change is the Interior and the Powertrain

but how much more expensive is the F150 compared to a Ranger?
that's the problem. Most of us wouldn't mind trading up for a F150 at the price of a Ranger, but it doesn't work that way.

dont get me wrong, i really like the new f150. however making it an entry level vehicle is not the answer. we have been over this subject time and time again.... every one says the same thing (not that its bad). hopefully ford will get the idea.... who knows maybe they bring it back in a few years when sales dip and that spot is still there in the other company's.

power plants- ie turbo engine.
quad cab option.
more interior options

Depends what kind of options you want also. You're also paying for a much bigger and better truck. The price tag is worth the truck in my opinion.

You might want to check the Colorado and Dakota forums, word is that they are an endangered species just like the Ranger. And if im not wrong, i think Nissan is considering getting out of the US small truck market as well. It might be down to a decision between the Toyota Tacoma and the Toyota Tacoma if you are looking for a mid-size in the near future.

Sold my F150 (08 FX2 SuperCab) and bought a 2010 Regular cab Ranger 2.3L with 5-speed manual. Why, did not haul much in my truck and what I did haul could be done with a Ranger. Gas mileage with the F150 averaged 13 mpg, around town, best was 18 mpg Highway. Ranger been averaging 24 around town, almost 30 highway. 90% of the time I am alone, so didn't need the extra space. Love the fact also that in the Ranger I can get to stuff in the bed without getting in the bed, I'm 5'6" tall and the F150 was way to big for me. I understand that some people need to stroke their egos, so that why they say the like the bigger F150's, I like the 80's F150 it was a perfect size truck.

Eh the 80's 150 looks to much like a chevy for me. The best 150 was in the 70's IMHO..

sales are already down, that's why there getting rid of it,yeah there nice in big city's because you can park the easier, but they don't care about that, they worry about money, course thats what there in the game for,the ranger cant tow as much as an f-150, gas mileage as an f-150, and a base model f-150 will be around the price as a ranger with options, it just crazy how much they want for cars , with the fiesta starting at 15 k for crank windows and just a radio , thats nuts, maybe they will come back with it maybe they wont, other then parts delivery trucks or small work trucks were else are they in the industry, other then us gear heads who tweak them and or run them as daily drivers

Sales are down because Ford was planning to discontinue the Ranger years ago, so they have not giving the Ranger a real update. If you look as the last few years of the Ranger looks if they are cleaning out the spare parts bins. I Love the Ranger and wish they would keep it.

(P.S. When the Government screws everything up here in the future demanding 30 mpg out of trucks we will see the Ranger again or a smaller F150)

Why did you bother buying an 08 FX2 then? I laugh when people say that. My dad's 08 has a lot of chrome on it the dealer put on but it's still used as a work truck when it needs to. It's also been on road trips from here to Florida and Indiana. I'd hate to see what you say about people driving F-450's.

Another thing to consider when thinking about the Ranger is that a lot of dads and moms want to buy something for their son as a starter vehicle. I don't think the F150 fits that bill at all for a newbie driver. The Ranger is small enough for a teenager to manage easily, gets decent mileage, is tough as nails/easy & cheap to fix, and still lets new drivers haul things in the back if needed. If I was a parent I know I wouldn't want my 16-17yo son or daughter trying to pilot an F150 through city streets. Not necessarily for thier safety but mostly because of its size and height when turning, parking, changing lanes, etc..

If I could carry 4 people comfortably in a Ranger I'd already be back in one. Gotta have that big backseat to carry my ego in though I guess.

This is a great point. A Ranger is a great starter truck, I'm so glad I decided to go with one instead of what else I looked for. Easy to work on, easy to drive, reliable and fun!

Got a great deal on the FX2 was looking to get a Ranger I wanted get out of my Sport trac (which I really hated), but again the F150 was too big for me & not what I really needed. As for the F450 if you are using it for work great, around here it just Redneck Cadillac.
