Sexy 1991 Ranger I found today
I have been looking for a more fuel efficient daily driver for a little while now and something to keep miles off of my 04. I was driving into town to get my hair cut and I happen to see an old ranger sitting on a side street and saw a for sale sign. I circled back around to get a better look, and took a few pictures, and got the guys number.
Turns out, it's a 1991, with 91,000 original miles. 5 speed, but the guy has no idea what engine it has. Turns out he's an old man who actually had to turn up his hearing aid to talk on his cell phone with me... and he griped about hating them, lol. He has a bad back and something wrong with his arm (I'm assuming a Vet because I live near a Marine Corps base), and he just can't drive it.
The body is PERFECT. Paint has some clear coat issue on the passenger side. No biggie. Interior looks amazing as well.
Apparently it has no power steering (why he can't drive it), and he said it's not broke, it just never came with it. Was this a common thing? And is it something that can be added easily? I know nothing about that kind of thing. He wants $2500 which I think is a bit much, but he can always be talked down if he really wants to sell. Let me know what you guys think.

Yea, I like it. Might see what I can do about getting it. But driving in stop and go traffic in the city w/o power steering might suck. If it's something that can be added easily enough, might be well worth it to pick it up. Gotta see what motor is in it, and then do some research for potential common problems.

Yes you can, we added it to my Dads 90 Ranger and it was as easy a trip to the wreckers for a pump, brackets, hoses and a PS box and we picked up new belts for it. We had never done a conversion before this but it was very easy and all the holes were there. We got the parts from Pick N Pull and with the belts it was under $100.00 for everything and only a few hours to put it all in.

I have a 91 without powersteering, not really bad, if you let anyone borrow it prepare to hear about it though. I'd run it, get some factory aluminum wheels and chrome bumpers, that would be a sweet rig. I'd only offer about $1700 and I'd have to be really wanting it.

Yea, I've been thinkin about it. I definitely wouldn't pay over $1800. But, in about 2 weeks I'm having knee surgery.... so a 5 speed might not be the best choice of a second vehicle. I won't be able to drive it for probly 4-6 months, haha. Nice truck tho, I can give you the old man's phone number if you're local and interested tho.
