shackle install at a shop?
anyone ever get a quote from a shop to do it? i'm going to buy them soon and get some more lift nd crank my tbars, but i'm worried about cutting bolts again! (body lift front cab bolts) so does anyone know a price from a shop?
also i'm getting the belltech 6400's |
Cant you install the shackles yourself?
|
Shop would cost more than the shackles them self
Install them your self super easy |
im sure there is a how to on this
|
its hard hard to do its 2 bolts on each side
|
lol you can ubolt your shackles with the bed on...
|
I bet you could do it in 35-40 minutes by your self
|
i think me and my bro did mine back in the day in 30 minutes. that was taking the double stacked blocks off and only leaving the SL block in, adding the AAL, and putting in the new shackle. all in under 30 minutes. and you want to pay someone to do this for you? complete waste of money.

yeah its really easy
1. Take before pictures and take measurements. 2. Jack up rear of truck and support from the frame. 3. Take off rear tires. 4. Put a jack under the rear axle. 5. Unbolt the shackle from the leaf spring. 6. Unbolt old shackle from the frame mount. 7. Bolt in new shackle to the frame mount. 8. Bolt shackle to the leaf spring. 9. Repeat on the other side. 10. Put on wheels and tires. 11. Take pictures and post on rf. It will take an hour at the most |
you forgot unbolt shackle from hanger.. not frame mount.. unless your shackles are bolted to your frame :biggthump

only thing i can think is that he doesn't have the time, place, or equipment to do it himself...
|
only issue we can into with mine was that i had a trailer hitch and that got in the way of the bolts. if you have one, get a second person to pull down on the lift springs while you pull out/push it the bolts.

Mine was trickey cuz the bolts were stuck inside and we had to take the leafs right off the truck and cut the bolts out. snuck them in the ford shop.
I cant see it being more than 2 hours in a shop to change. should be like 1 hour shop rate. |
Downey gave a real good explanation. You may have to grind a few thousands off the bushing to get the top bushing holes to line up in between the shackle and bracket. Mine fit a little too snug before some sanding.
Edit: If you haven't really done work on a car or truck before than see if you can find someone close buy to help. Failing that I suppose you could have a shop do it but I wouldn't pay over $40 or 50 labor personally. |
no i have the time, place, and i think all the equipment i just didthe bodylift by myself and that wasnt too bad at all i waas just wondering is there a how to?
|
